September Challenge?

I may be a little early asking, but things are finally settling down enough that I am interested in another challenge. It is not the exercise that is challenging, but exercising and staying ‘beachy’ that I need the challenge. In the past challenges. the challenges just helped me say NO to certain 'unbeachy' foods.

BTW, for those of you who remember me from challenges earlier this year, I have picked up a new exercise love, that is BodyCombat. It makes BodyStep seem like a walk in the park! My DW has stopped complaining about my time in the gym and seems to accept it! So now I am doing 4 to 5 strength classes a week (3 BodyPump & 1 to 2 BodyFlow) and 5 aerobic classes (3 Body Combat & 2 BodyStep). Finally I am still on the waiting list for instructor training.

 And I will be 61 in a week - just gotta get in shape for retirement!

Hi Old grayBob

Never to early to plan a challenge! Any thoughts on the rules of a September Challenge?

Bob,

I'd be interested in hearing what you'd like to propose for a September challenge. Lordy lordy, are these challenges ever motivating to keep me exercising!

I should have responded earlier but I am trying to formulate something that would be good for me (a phase 3'r gymrat), and good for a SBD newbie who feels that a mile walk daily is great. And that mile walk maybe of more benefit to the newbie that an hour of BodyCombat is to me. I have been and will continue to mull this over.

I'll probably be part of it... Mostly because I know that in september, I will want to focus mostly in my studies (have a big exam November the 1st, which means that in September and October most of my free time (which is anytime I won't be sleeping or working) will have to be devoted to studying.

Then again, I can't do memorization more than 2-3 hours straight, so if I'm in the challenge, it will motivate me to do some exercises in my study breaks. My fitness is improving right now, and I don't want to lose in the fall everything I'll have worked for in the summer !

Hi Everyone !! I am a newbie to the SBD, I am only on Day 4 but I would love to participate in a challenge. I need all the motivation I can get, so please count me in !!! I am very excited about losing weight I just do not have anyone to participate with me so this would be a way to answer to someone.
GreyBob I just gotta say 'WOW' I am impressed and inspired, I wish I could make myself go to the gym that much. Maybe in a few months I will be able to follow in your footsteps.

Man OldGreyBob!

So impressive! I absolutely love Les Mills classes. I was certified in BodyCombat about 1.5 yrs ago and was signed up to train for BodyPump (my true love) instructor certification when my gym got bought out and the group fitness was cancelled!!! That was the only gym in town with Les Mills...now I go to a gym that carries its competitor, (Group Power, Group Kick, etc) and it is just not the same. The music doesn't even compare!

I just want to say, the 3 day training weekend for Body Combat was the most physically challenging & rewarding weekend of my life as a pretty fit 24 yr old...I am completely impressed with your dedication. You are an inspiration to us all :)

Sounds great! Count me in! These challanges really help to keep me accountable and make sure that I force myself to work out even if I don't feel like it. They have really taken this to the next level for me. I don't know what BodyPump or those other things are, are they specific to a certain gym? Can you buy videos to do at home? Whatever it is your workout routine sounds impressive and inspiring!

Hey Bob! I"m new the SB (about week 2 Phase 2), but I need some buddies for support! (I'd fit the "walking 1 mile a day is great" catagory

Sounds like your a senior who kicks butt! My Dad is 68. He was a retitred construction worker and was about 350 lbs when he became diabetic a few years ago. He cleaned up his act, followed the doctors orders, lost 175 pounds (he's 6 ft 4 with a big frame).

I grew up knowing him as a man with a huge pot belly, needing "sideboards" for his dinner plate to keep all the food on. Now, he works out every day at the gym for a few hours and can run a 2-minute mile...

at 68! He's my inspiration. I'm 37 and need to drop 150 lbs. Because of our family's history, I know it's not a question of IF I become diabetic someday, it's a question of WHEN I will become diabetic.

And I hope to put that off for as long as possible...

Hi Everyone!
I'd love to join too!
Also, I'm all for adding a requirement related to clean eating. Just thought I'd add that in!
