Hi teammates!
I did not get my workout in this a.m.....decided to get some other things done that I needed to accomplish....but will do some cardio this evening. Being on phase 1 again is such a challenge...especially when not at home and when I didn't plan very well! For dinner I am having a big salad and some steak and I can't wait!
Hope everyone is having a grea day!

Kelly: Quote: came home a day *early*, pp??
Yep, DH was itchy to get back to the office(we own our own business)! We didn't get home till 11:30 in the eve and still had to bring in and unpack a few things. Finished up the unpacking this morn and hit the office around noon. Boy did my own bed feel good!!!
Getting back on schedule today. MIL and other company were not very supportive of the SB diet I follow!
Sounds like our team is really motivated. I will weigh myself tomorrow and add a new ticker for the August challenge. Time to kick my own butt! |

Hi Guys!
Glad to see that everyone is posting and getting on track! It's definitely hard with all these summer plans, especially since it sounds like people are trying their best to cram in as much last-minute summer fun as possible. Too bad it always seems to involve an abundance of non-beachy food somehow!
I had a pretty good day, eating was pretty much on track! Got my butt to the gym too :D
Smurlene, Rosetrail, Packerprincess - Great to see you all posting, and hope the self-butt-kicking is off to a good start.
Smurlene, good job on finding another way to get your cardio in for the day! Every little bit helps, and adapting the exercise routine to changing circumstances is definitely key.
PP - I hear you on unsupportive relatives...as well as unsupportive friends! I've been having issues with the latter as of late, and it's come to a point where I'm just not hanging out with some of my friends like I used to. That's not quite the solution for your MIL, but it sounds like you don't have to deal with that situation too often!
Kathi - Way to go on keeping up the exercise routine in phase 1! It'll probably give you even more drive to stick with it. My eating habits are always better when I'm working out consistently.
Rosetrail - I hear you about "skyrocketing" off the wagon! Work goodies can be hard to pass up... stay strong!
Kjaceyma - I plan to get involved with yoga in the fall when I'm back at school, but I'm not sure what type is best for me. I want something that focuses more on strength and toning, and a little less on the meditation (not that meditation isn't good, but I want a workout too!). Of course, I'm sure it all depends on the studio, but of the different types of yoga out there, are there any that are more rigorous, but suited to a beginner? Oh, and I'm a law student - the workload isn't too bad if you keep up, but extra-currics and part-time jobs make that difficult...so it's extra important for me to stay on track.
Glad to see everyone on here! Good luck with tomorrow - I might literally start trying to kick my own butt everytime I think of doing something off-plan lol.
ETA - Oh, and weighed myself today - 204.8. It would be sooo great to be 200 pounds even by the end of this challenge... |

oh my goodness, i can not even tell you how great my vinyasa yoga class was tonight. maybe it's 'cause i'm feeling stronger, maybe 'cause i already kinda knew a lot of the poses, but man oh man i was in love with it. okay, so some of the flexibility poses were kinda tough - always room for improvement, though.
cheeky, this type of yoga is more active, as in the poses flow into each other and relatively quickly at that. here is a link: http://yoga.about.com/od/typesofyoga/a/vinyasa.htm
you may want to read about other types on that page... i'm pretty new to it, myself, so i can't be *too* much help at the moment...
before yoga i had already built up a sweat on the bike... and i was definitely sweating in class, too.. love that sweat, baby, oh yeah. 8) i think i also liked the class because it was evening and there was soft lighting, so the mood was very nice - plus the music was not bad, either. out of the 3 yoga classes i have done (in the past week and a half i think??), this has been my favorite. very calming, i have found. :)
okay, enough about that - it's time for bed!
kelly
p.s. do ya think trying a new form of yoga would count toward points for trying a new form of exercise?? (heh heh)
p.p.s. any thoughts on a team name, mmm?? cheeky's monkeys? becoming less cheeky (i think you know what i mean)? okay that one's kinda long. |

OK, weighed in this morning at 159.5, that's up 4 lbs! Time to move on and kick butt! Made a new August Challenge Ticker - set a goal to lose 7 lbs. on this challenge! That's under 2 lbs a week, I should be able to do it!
Getting back to the aerobics/strength class today, an hour of each ought to get me sweating! I'll sweat all those toxins I put in my body on vacation right out!
Kelly - how about Less Cheeky ? |

Just reading your goals and accomplishments is getting me moving. I relunctantly got out of bed this morning at 9 am, but I did it because I am trying to kick my own butt!
Another sweltering day here in the midwest. It really makes outdoor exercise hard and since I walk to the gym.... but I will perservere. I am having so much fun, too! |

good luck, pp, with gettin back on track - you can do it, oh yeah!
smurl - i hear ya, about the heat - yuck!! the humidity really kills me. are there exercises you can do at home instead of suffering outdoors?
hmm, so would we be the Less Cheekies? or just, Team Less Cheeky (TLC)?
i was almost going to go to the park early this morning - but the time when i would have gone, 5.15 or so, it looked like it was still dark and i didn't know if the park would technically be open yet -- okay, lame excuse. but, gym tonight!

Today is an "I do NOT heart NY" day! Flooding knocked out EVERY train in Manhattan today. It took me 4 1/2 hours to get to work today, so I completely missed my workout this morning. Boo.
I woke up planning to ride my bike into work, but it was pouring. So, I got dressed for the gym instead and headed to the subway. But, AFTER I was on the subway and in between stops the Transit Authority decided that trains could no longer run. So, I sat in my train car underground for almost 2 hours, with no A/C. Yuck. Of course, by the time I emerged from underground it was sunny, and I was bemoaning my lack of bicycle. But, I was no where near home or work, so it took another 2 1/2 hours to find a bus and take it to work. Since everyone else in the city was having the same nightmare there was not an available cab in sight and many buses had lines 2 blocks long. Many buses were so full they didn't even stop to pick up passengers, because no one would fit!The only upside was that my work clothes were tucked into my shoulder bag, so I only sweated out my gym clothes in the humidity. I felt so badly for the men sweating through their suit coats.
Anyway, we all have these days, and mine is better now that I am finally at work. But, I'm glad to be able to vent through the blow by blow here!
Cheeky - I am a legal recruiter. What year are you in law school? You'll be starting in the next couple of weeks right?
Kj - Thanks for sharing the link with some poses from the syle of yoga you took last night. I took a Vinyasa class forever ago, and I'm interested in taking some of the poses to my home work out.
Smurlene - Keep thinking about those stomach pull ins, and then pulling it in! Thanks for the reminder to actively engage those muscles all day long. Great for the elevator and subway.
ALL - Like the TLC Team Name idea, as well as Less Cheeky - very funny. |

Rose--How terrible! What a cruddy day!
We were bowled over with high temps again here in Ohio. It is so bad that this morning at 5 am it was 85! With temps like that it is easy to get all that water in.
I am overwhelmed with work right now, and I am so glad that I joined this challenge. In the past, I would let work impact my exercise schedule. No more! |

Hi Everyone!
Got my workout in today, and stretching - I'm pleased, things are going well! I love reading about how you're all doing, and it makes me want to report back with good news, so thanks to all of you for being so motivating!
Kjayecma - I totally forgot to post a request for name suggestions -thanks so much for being on top of that! I have to see, I'm quite the fan of Less Cheeky! How does everyone else feel about that? I do think trying a new form of yoga should count as a new exercise - they all seem very different to me, but that's my inexperienced opinion! And thanks for the info - I'm going to look into it when I get back to school. Vinyasa sounds like it would be what I'm looking for though.
Wow Rosetrail - sorry to hear about your day! Frankly, I would have been soooo frustrated to have to go into work after that. You actually seem to have a really good attitude about it! I really hope tomorrow is not so full of nasty surprises. Oh, and I'm a law student in Canada - studying law and public policy, working in the public sector this summer. I'm in a 4 year joint degree program, heading into my third year - let's just say it's been interesting!
PP - I bet a lot of that 4 lbs is water - and I wouldn't be surprised if you lose that 7 pounds with all that exercise! Make sure you stretch afterward though - sounds like your body will need it  Do you find that going to a strength class makes you stick with it more? I'm thinking I should join - I can stick to cardio, but I really need to be more committed to strength training.
Smurl - I understand where you're coming from completely. It's really hard to be motivated when you feel tired and sweaty and will only feel more tired and sweaty after working out. Humidity always makes me want to slump over and just forget that I even have a gym membership - even more so considering how gross the gym I go to is! It's not very well airconditioned, and it's really small, always busy with tons of big sweaty guys (no, it's not as much fun to stare at them as you all might think!), so it's really just annoying. I can't wait to go back to my marginally-less-gross gym at law school in September! Anyway, I always feel more energetic after working out though, and I'm sure you do too - stick with it!
Ok, gotta do the dishes..they've really piled up the last couple of days  . Later! |

Rosetrail - Wow you had one of those days, sounds dreadful! I think I would have given up and gone home.
Cheekymo - We do stretching at the end of the aerobics portion and after the strength portion. We do a lot of strength training with the ball, bands and weights. It's something I really needed to add to my routine. I was doing Curves 5 days a week and it just wasn't cutting it anymore.
I'm ok with either Less Cheeky or Team Less Cheeky (TLC) for a team name.
Have a beachy night! |

I like both names. I love the play on words. So awesome!
pp--Oh man, Curves. What a drag! I am so bored there. I go three times a week if I HAVE to. At this point, I pay my monthly dues because I like the atmosphere and encouragement and getting weighed and measured, but even that is questionable at my Curves. I really thought I would like Curves. It did get me to exercise more, but now I am just so bored.
I am getting ready to go visiting friends who have a pool. Yeah, for swimming every day! Break up my routine and make me less cheeky.
cheeky--Days like today are so dark brutal. Yikes! But I just find other pursuits to keep me active. I love the fact that I now seek solace and release from anger from exercise and not other people or things. I have never been an emotional eater. I am more likely to lose weight when I am sad or anxious, but I never saw exercise as offering relief from anything but boredom. What a change! |

Ok girls - so sounds like Kathi is going to have to make the decision here! Whaddya think Kathi? Less Cheeky, or Team Less Cheeky?
And Smurl - man, if I lost weight everytime I got sad or anxious, I'd probably have disappeared by now - sadly, my problem is the complete opposite! |

Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the delay in responding, spent all day shoveling dirt as we are re-landscaping our back yard...big fun!!!
Oh my gosh, the pressure is on me???? I would have to say I love Team Less Cheeky (TLC)....that is great!
Cheeky - I agree with you....I wish I lost weight when I was sad or anxious....instead I head to the kitchen usually....that is why when we remodeled our house I gained back 30 lbs.....oops! This is what I am working at getting off now!
Smurl - I can relate...I was once a Curves member and got very bored. Then I joined another women's only gym that also had classes etc...that was much better. Now I workout at home on my treadmill, elliptical, recumbent bike or doing my DVD's....works great! |
