Whine alert!

Ugh. You guys are doing so great and I'm barely plugging along right now. I have been exhausted all week. I'm talking bone tired and just trying to stay awake in the afternoon. I've been stretching and got one bike ride in. Yup, just one. :( I was going to go out this evening for a good 15 miles even though I'm just beat. DH said he'd be home by 6:30 so I figured I'd eat light and ride at 7:30. So he gets home at 7:45. I should have gone out for my ride then but it feels like we haven't spent much time together so I used that as an excuse not to ride. Yup, lotsa quality time. He's spent the entire evening working on the computer. Now I've GOT to ride the next 3 days to get my cardio and strength in and meet my goals.

Whine over. Thanks for letting me get that out of my system. On the bright side I'm sure 2 or 3 of my rides will be over 90 mins so bonus for that. I can also get in 2-3 Pilates for extra strength sessions. Points shouldn't be too bad for the week but man am I procrastinating!

Hi Luvmycritters

It's OK to whine--get it out of your system and move on.

As for me--the exercise is doing well--met all the minimums and we are into bonus. I'll admit, I am really bad about taking the time to stretch, so there may be no points for that.

OK..fess up time for me...

Let me preface with I had planned this...

2 x a year, Wash DC has restaurant week, so with the kids gone at grandma's DH and I have eaten out every nite this week. Yes, I planned to eat out. I have been beachy 2 meals and 2 snacks every day, but the dinner, although portions are small, they are not always beachy and I eat the bread and dessert. And the result, I am up on the scale!

Truth be told I had a huge unexpected loss last week (and I wasn't very beachy over last weekend,) so I think my body is catching up from last weekend and now there is a gain.

This weekend we are going out of town and it is our anneversary so I want to enjoy myself as well, but I think I need to eat at home next week after we return from our trip, so I can do a little damage control. Maybe only go out 1 time next week. I am trying not to make excuses but not having the kids around allows us to go and do what we want--which is very rare for us!

I have to be honest and for some reason, posting it here makes me realize I have to tighten up.

I guess the lesson learned is making the decision to not be beachy will have consequences I do not like--so I need to be aware of that.

August is going to be such a challenge. We are out of town every weekend till Sep and it is harder to stay beachy that way.

OK
I feel better now.

Today, I am leaving work early so there may not be a gym opportunity for me today. I did get out and power walked pretty fast this AM, so a bit of exercise.

Not sure how the weekend will be for exercise.
Saturday we are going to Bush Gardens in Williamsburg VA
Sunday we are going SCUBA diving--not really cardio

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hello all,
Sorry I haven't posted yet on my progress this week, really didn't get going until yesterday. I have done my pilates video(30 min) 3 times this week already for my strength training and plan to so it twice more before Sunday. We have been having a heat wave all this week here. Supposed to be 102 today which is very rare here in NC so I haven''t been able to get my walks in. I have a 4 week old and a 2 1/2 year old that I have to take with me and its just been too hot to take them outside so after baby's 5 am feeding this morning I went for a 45 min walk before my husband left for work. I plan to do this sat and sun also. Applied for a YMCA membership so the heat won't be a problem any more. As for my goals, haven't been able to eat breakfast once this week. Going from 1 child to 2 has been quite a transition. I have not cheated on my 1 new phase 2 food daily. I have eaten 1 slice of whole grain toast with pb+j for a snack each day, so I have done great with that goal. I'm saving my new recipe for dinner sat night. I hope everyone else is doing well and making progress :D

Evening everyone! I'm feeling better tonight. DH got home and I put him in charge of supper while I went for a ride. 11 miles and finished up in the dark but it was a good ride. My legs were screaming at me the first 2 miles but after they warmed up I felt good. Pushed a bigger gear to up my speed and came home in the dark but that's ok. I just got done stretching so I'm ready to turn in for the day.

Otter - I'm jealous. Restaurant week sounds like a lot of fun and I'd LOVE to go scuba diving. How cool! Is that something you do on a regular basis?

MBiggers07 - Wow, I didn't realize you had a little one at the house. Kudos to you for doing the challenge! I think the morning walk by yourself is a great idea. It's so easy to forget to take care of yourself when you have a baby in the house and another little one!

Hi, all.
Mbiggers, I'm in Greenville, SC, and I'm with you on the heat. Unbearable! I haven't walked this week at all (just from the house to the car and from the car to work, then reverse at 4:30 pm :) ) but have maintained stretching and so forth. I've done great with food and with water, and I did try a new recipe. I think just the step of joining the August challenge and reaffirming each of our own plans for ourselves is a great move for week one anyway, no matter how we each did point-wise. We'll kick it up a little for week two, and everybody otter see us go!
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Maybe the Southeast will dip into the 90s finally!

Hi, all, just have a quick minute here! How are we going to check-in for points and whatnot? Will we have a thread where we post weekly accomplishments and points? This is my first challenge here.

Mbigger's, I'm NOT trying to derail you or anything, this is just friendly advice! I'm curious if you are breastfeeding? If you are, please take it easy. Exercising heavily while exclusively nursing a little baby will put an enormous strain on your body and will very likely affect your milk supply. Walking is fine (and actually a very good idea if you don't overdo it), but heavy cardio is not recommended. If you are bottle-feeding, carry on! :)

Morning all!

Jamie - I just noticed how close you are to your goal. Awesome!!!

I gotta brag. Even though I've been feeling blah this week and not eating 100% beachy I did stay on track enough to make the scale move. I broke the zero and hit 169 this morning! I only record on Mondays so I've got to be good and make sure that number is still there or lower by Monday. More incentive to get on that bike this weekend!

Right now dd and I are going for a horseback ride with some friends. Should be fun and interesting since I'm riding dd's friend's horse because she's been naughty lately.

Have a great weekend!

JamieM,
No worries here, I'm bottle feeding :D Congratulations on being so close to your goal. That is so awesome. I CAN'T wait to be that close to my goal. I have my jeans hanging on the closet for my incentive. Never realized exactly how small a size 9 pair of jeans were until I couldn't pull them up over my thighs anymore!
I hope everyone is doing well with their goals. I have managed to pull through with the minimums but hey, that's a lot more than I did last week;)

Good job everyone!! I have some exercise to do tomorrow to be sure I've caught up to goal. I did great all week but NOT so well today at a birthday party. I did do well exercising, did more this week than I have since I had my daughter. :)

Thank you for the encouragement! It's hard to believe I'm so close to goal. Mbigger's, you will fit into those jeans! I remember not pulling mine over my hips either. Now, they are too big on me. :) You will get there!!!

Sounds like our team's doing great!! I had a nice ride tonight but I really need to get a computer for my bike. I thought I was going at a pretty good pace, faster than normal. I went 15 miles and it took me just under 1.5 hours. :( I was hoping to push my speed up to 13mph but it looks like I only did about 11. Doesn't seem like a big difference but on a bike it is. Oh well, I'll get there! Time to stretch and head to bed. Nite all!
