WooHoo for portion control! That's one area I'm trying very hard to work at since it's really my downfall. Growing up on the farm/ranch we ate big meals so I have to work hard at lowering my portions. DH eats large portions too but I've gotten much better.
No biking yesterday but I did get my stretching in. I'm planning to get ALL the extra points for stretching! I'm pretty sore today from my ride on Sunday. I'll head out this evening for a ride, maybe with the club if I can keep up.
Have a great day everyone!

Hey Team
It's great that we have some new people....I'm stoked to kick my own butt--what a great name for a challenge!
Thinking about a name, but nothing has occurred to me yet.
This morning I did a 30 min walk and this afternoon I will kayak (unless it rains--right now not looking so wonderful).
Have a great day!

Otter, you and I seem to have similar experiences here. :) I've been doing this WOE for about ten months now as well. I don't know how much weight I'll lose during this challenge, as I'm only five pounds away from my goal. I may or may not up that goal if I reach that weight, though.
I got up and did 30 minutes of Advanced Tae Bo this morning, then ate a good beachy breakfast. Woohoo!! Sticking to my goals thus far. My plan is to snack on veggies so I can up my veggie intake (which has been slacking), and cut down on nuts (which I've been overindulging in). But I will still allow myself to have my allottment of SBD-friendly "desserts" (mostly bittersweet chocolate). So I'm happy with my day so far!
I like doing a log for challenges. Here are my meals today:
Breakfast: eggs with cheese and salsa; grapes; kefir; coffee
snack: green pepper slices with homemade hummus
lunch: taco salad, a few grapes and half a banana
plan: snack : celery with peanut butter
dinner: homemade buffalo chicken salad, veggies
lots of water!
ETA: I weighed in this morning at 131. That's up one pound from my ticker.
Here's a tip for portion control: while eating your meals, put your fork down between each bite and chew well. Sip a good drink. Then pick up your fork and take ONE more bite. It works very well!!
GO TEAM! :D |

Jennie! What a cute name! I am for it if there are no objections!
Jamie--Thanks for the tip on portion control. I will try that out tonite--no guarantees it willl keep me away from dessert!
Yup sounds like we are in the same boat--the last 10 lbs are definitely going to be the hardest for me--I keep fluctuating between 139 and 143--I am happy with my appearance but I just want to lose a bit more.
Food was great today--I was so busy today I forgpt to eat my snacks so dinner should be really good.
I did 2 power walks today so I am feeling really good today.
I am still sore from my strength training yesterday but I know this is good for me so I keep truckin on!
Well I need to run so have a great nite!

Hey I love "Otter See Us Go"
Let's do it!
Portion control...I like Jamie's idea. That's one of my main problems--eating too fast! Also I'm trying to get in the habit of weighing and measuring stuff.
I did kayak yesterday. It was beautiful. I was the only person out there for the whole time.
This morning, however, I fell back asleep instead of going to my weight lifting class, so I need to do it at home (always hard for me--this is my commitment to doing it).
Have a great day!

You definitely don't want to get below 10% or even near it. That would be very unhealthy. Depending on age a woman's fat% should be 21-27% so you are already on the low side of normal.
I didn't find any numbers where your 6-pack would magically appear. I would guess that is more and individual thing depending on body type and exercise level. Here are some charts and info on fat % though. The second has a chart that lists fat % for elite athletes and is very interesting.

Well, we are Otter See us GO!
I don't even know what a 6 pack is
It is so hot today, I opted out of my aerobics class--I am so thirsty and I keep drinking water so I am going to do a nice walk indoors instead.
SL I would love to kayak-seems nice and cool!
OK I need to get out of this cubicle before I lose my mind--off to the gym

OOooh, kayaking!! Awesome!!
Love the team name!!
I got up and did 30 minutes of tae bo again this morning. Love it!! Once I get back into the habit of doing regular exercise again (it's been a while :? ), I'll do the longer routine. Planning on doing some strength training this afternoon. I think I'll post my meals over on the meal thread, LOL.
GO TEAM!! :D |

I know raj was talking about female 6-packs but I liked these pics better. I did find some info that said for women the "magic number" is 15%. I would guess at your weight and percent fat you're looking to gain muscle weight at this point in order to get defined abs.
I haven't done much today. Feeling very blah and not sure why. I will go out on the bike tonight though and get 10-15 miles in and stretch after.
Gotta go, plums need canned! Mmmmmmm homemade plum sauce! |

Good morning from South Carolina! I haven't walked (for exercise, that is) in two days because it's been so hot. I'm from Cleveland originally, and I don't care what anyone says: 106 degrees is TOO HOT for humans! So I've stretched and done situps, etc. Feels a little lazy, but good night, it's like living underwater right now.
While I'm here, has anyone else had high (really high) cholesterol prior to starting SB? If so, what has been your experience with that?
I'm in it for the long haul because I truly like how I feel when I eat like this, but I'm also trying to get my numbers down to show my doctor I don't need meds yet.
Hope everyone has a great day! Glad the team name stuck! :D

Hi Guys!
Well now you know what it's like to live in FL in the summer (although I have been reading that it's actually hotter along the eastern seaboard than FL right now).....
I leave the house for my walk around 6 am and get back by 6:30 6:45, so it's only in the mid 80's and not the 100's. But I sympathize.
Did not do my weight lifting last night as promised. I had a very trying afternoon dealing with my aging mom and her sick cat....Stuff like that always knocks me out. Today I plan to head for the gym directly from cubicle......................
Have a great day!

Drat!
I had a post and I lost it...grrr
I survived a lunch for a guy who's last day is tomorrow and I kept it beachy.
My dinners have been soooo goood but not beachy--I am eating bread and desserts--my splurge during restaurant week.
I am heading out to the gym and am pleased to report I have done:
8 cardio sesssion--once I finish this one
2 strength
1 stretch
drank my water daily
keeping to my goals and journaling
As for my cholesterol--it used to be high but it went from 240 to 160 and when the dr explained it, the bad levels are low and the good levels are high-- I think SB has helped me with that for sure
Take care

Good job with the exercise, everyone!! Yeah, I totally can see this is how it is living in Floriday, LOL. I took an exercise break today but am planning on Tae bo bright and early tomorrow morning! And some strength training.
I've stuck with my goals and feeling good about it! :) |
