Lady Moonlight

Just wondering. I live in the south suburbs of Chicago and had an unfortunate c-section with my son. (I say that b/c I had no desire to have one at all, and probably wouldn't have minded had the circumstances been different)

At any rate, can someone recommend a doctor who specializes or promotes vaginal after cesarean? I really want to have a natural birth if at all possible and want to find a good OB/GYN who will support this before I get prego.

Anyone out there know of anyone? Guys are welcome to answer too if their DW/DGF have experience.

Thanks

LM

I would recommend asking the nurses at the hospital where you deliver. Ask about the hospital's policy as well. For example, the hospital I used was very pro-Vbac, but NOT where my sister delivered! I would just call and speak to a nurse or two at labor & delivery. You could also call different OB's and midwives' and ask about their opinions on Vbac's. They are becoming more and more favored these days. My sister had much more success finding a midwife who would do a Vbac than an OB (and that was after she had two c-sections!)

The OBGYN I currently see has nurses with whom I would speak. Would nurses know whether or not the doc/mw was pro VBAC? Or would I end up needing to make an appointment?

Keeping in mind that not everyone is a candidate for a VBAC .....

Here is an article LM that might help you "arm yourself" with any questions you may have for your doc (or other OB/GYN that you may want to interview...)

VAGINAL BIRTH AFTER C-SECTION (VBAC)

also, a pretty nifty "Physician Finder" from WebMD that might help!

WebMD Physician Directory

Good luck!

Wow! Thanks for all that info! I did a little searching for stuff myself, but all that was in one site. :D

You're welcome!
You can also type in VBAC in the search bar of the WebMD site and get lots of excellent info too!
