I have PCOS, so I know this effects your period. But I have been on mine for 2 months straight now. My weight fluctuates between 2-10 pounds, so it is difficult to tell if I am losing weight.

I am trying the SBD, but having a tough time getting started. I am eating much better but have not completly followed Phase 1 this week. I am calling this Pre-Phase I.

Yesterday I weighed 190 and today I weigh 180. I weighed myself first thing in the morning. How can I tell if I have really lost weight? My mother-in-law suggested I skip the scale until the period thing is over. She told me I would notice a change in the way my clothes fit. But what fits today could be very tight tomorrow.

Do any females w/PSOS have any suggestions? I think I am going to stop taking birthcontrol. When I wasnt taking it, my periods were fine but my OB/GYN wanted me to take it. Now that I am, my periods last for 2weeks- 3months at a time.

Not only that, but I am so moody. I feel drained. I dont know what to do and the only thing my doctor suggests is changing birth controls. When she was told I was on my period for 2months her suggestion was to change pills and she told me to start this new brand immediatley. I guess I am just looking for someone who may have been through this and can help me out here.

Well, I don't have PCOS (that I know of). But after giving birth, I went on the nursing BC which is progesterone only. And I never quit bleeding. I bled almost 10 months straight (with maybe a day or two b/w "periods") until my milk promptly dried up for no reason whatsoever. Then I got on Yasmin and I was fine. Perfectly regulated periods. When I did SB, switching into Phase 2 would set me up for a 2 week period. And when I re-started, the same thing happened as well.

Personally, I'd take your OB/GYN's advice and switch pills. Keep on SB, and you should regulate soon.

Good luck!

I have PCOS as well. There is other things to help stop your period, but changing b.c. might help. I know that my doc worries if my period is longer than a month. Has your dr. talked about anything other than birth control to stop the long period? If not, you may want to get a second opinion. PCOS is so hard because no one really know what to do for it. What may work for your body might not work for the next. I know that I had a friend that was going to an OBGYN. She was trying so hard to get pregnant. The Doc way of doing things was not working, so she switched. The next dr. had a completely different view and that worked better with her body. Extended periods like that can leave you really drained...you are loosing blood no stop. You will need to watch your iron levels really closely. If your dr. hasn't ordered a blood test, have her do so. You need to make sure your iron levels aren't getting too low. Other than that...maybe try switching the BC and see if that helps! Keep us informed!

I also have PCOS. I would definately change bc. Maybe the pill might not be for you? Try the new pills the dr suggested. Make sure you are taking a multi-vitamin too.

I found when I was watching my SBD habits that my body tended to normal itself out. While I never was able to conceive after my first child (had to go to Germany to get him too!), I noticed my cycle cut down to 3-4 days, and the pain was almost gone for me. Are you taking anything else? I use Metformin also.

Just jump into starting phase 1. It can be scary, however you may find it more helpful. Cycling between Phase 1 - 2 might bring your cycle under control. I learned over the first 6 months I could regulate mine with the diet phases. In a way I guess my diet and cycle are linked. This helped me to learn to control them both. Don't forget the vitamins and good luck.

I do not have PCOS. I cannot help you there, but I would agree with everyone else. Try talking to your dr. about bc. I was on so many different pills. Some, my period was months. Others, my period never came for months. My dr. put me on the ring, and it has been wonderful. I would suggest trying different pills.
