| My friend lost tons of weight on SBD and has these stretch marks that make her feel so bad about herself. Is there anything out there that can help? |

| plastic surgery really. You can also use coconut butter and vitamin e oil but it's not going to make that much of a difference using those basically just prevents them but plastic surgery is the only way to get rid of them. |

stretch marks are scars. they fade over time, especially with the aid of moisturization via cocoa butter or vitamin e, but can never completely go away unless removed via surgery.
i am sorry that your friend is feeling so down on herself. i have similar issues due to deep stretch marks i developed during pregnancy. sometimes i feel like my stomach looks like freddy krueger. help your friend to remember how much healthier she is for having lost weight, and that stretch marks fade and can be covered by clothing but you can't hide being overweight and the risk you put yourself in when you are overweight. |

| I used to think nothing would work. I used the dermshed Emuscar kit and I noticed a huge difference in my scars. First use the dermshed which removes layers of skin, then the emuscar (emu oil) which I've read is the best thing for scars. Let me know if you try it and if you have good results like me. |

| Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it. I know she can't afford surgery and I've told her she is beautiful anyway but I know how imperfections can make us feel. I will definitely tell her about the Dermshed/emuscar products - she would be willing to try that. I checked it out and actually I think I'll get some for myself too as my face could use some smoothing and looking younger! (Can't we all!) Puredelight, did you use it on your face too? |

Shelley62:
I had really bad stretchmarks....Well, I am a female, so I guess any stretchmarks would be considered bad. But what really worked for me was/is Mederma. It does work if used as directed. By that I mean you have to apply it several times a day. You may be able to see results in as little as 2 weeks (for small/new marks) or up to 6 months(lighter/older marks). It is about 30.00 but you only use a small amount so it really does last. Hope this helps. |

hi there
I don't know whether this product (Bio-Oil) will be any good for your friend but its worked wonders for me and my friend we both have stretch marks due to childbirth and weight gain and we saw loads of difference in our tummy area, and thighs. Although I can't list their site as I am a newbie it is available in the USA,i sure if you did a search you would find it, we pay around $25.00 dollars a bottle (Its well worth a try)
Hope this is of use to you

| I used to work at GNC and a lot of female customers swore by Strivectin-SD. I never tried it myself and it's somewhat spendy (around $100) but I have heard great things about it. Just another option, I guess :) |

| I have also used bio-oil on my scars and stretch marks - it has already faded my red scars and is making my hip stretch marks look good! In the US it's about $12 and I got mine at Walgreens and CVS. |

Hello,
It may seem a bit strange. I am a 24 yr old male doctor with a history of being over weight for last 7 yrs and have just noticed these stretch marks on my belly. The skin specialist now says its due to weight gain.
Apparently I am the only male in this club as yet
regards |

My husband has always had some minor stretch marks but when he went through chemotherapy he would blow up like a balloon. After the first month, he had these horrible huge dark pink stretch marks all over his belly. And they're still there. So yes I would say rapid weight gain causes it and you're not the only male. |

| My DH has them too. They are much larger than mine even. He is Filipino and I think his darker skin makes them look more pronounced. He likes to tell our son that he was in a fight with a tiger....but there aren't really any roaming tigers that I know of in our neighborhood.... :D :D :D |

| My DH has a few on his stomach (by a few I mean like 4) but since he has been on sbd they have shrunk down and you can't see them because of his hair...I guess that is a blessing of a hairy chest and belly! LOL As for me...I know I may be the WEIRDEST girl on the planet...stretch marks have never bothered me. When I was pregnant every one was like, you grew so fast, you are going to get horrible stretch marks if you don't do this or that. I always thought, "So what?" I don't ever where shirts that people can see my belly with. I always have at least 2 shirts one (one is an underwear type shirt and the other is the shirt I choose to wear for the day). I figure my DH and occassionally the dr. are the only ones that see it and well the DH has never complained or said anything about them so I am set! |
