I only used it a few times in P1. Once I hit P2 I didn't feel the need for it any more Thank God. The stuff is AWFUL!!!

There is a sugar-free Citrucel that y'all might want to try. I have IBS :( , so I have precription strength stuff. But the Citucel works with my mom(diabetic)

I guess I use it in my morning "pancakes" (2 eggs. flaxmeal, metamucil, splenda, baking powder). Yum.

Hello, I have been thinking about using this diet. I tried Atkins but I got diarrhea..so I stopped. Will this diet do the same? kind of a gross subject..but hey I gotta know..:)

I've never tried Atkins, but I have read parts of the book and know a few people that have tried it. This diet, I believe, is much better for you. Seems Atkins allows too many fatty foods, where as this one puts you on good fats, good carbs, and good proteins. I never had the problms with diarrhia, if anything, just the opposite in the initial stages of P1. Give it a try and good luck.

Hello all:

I have been using smooth texture, orange flavored generic metamucil for over 3 years, 3 times a day to control frequent movements. This was a side-effect of having my gall bladder out 4 years ago. It worked very well in controlling them.

I continue to use it and I actually enjoy my glass in the morning.

I found that after doing SB, (Octiober 2003 start date), I could eliminate it from my diet all together and have more bowel control than I had before, even while I was taking the stuff. Another indication that I had been eating the wrong stuff all these years.

I now use it faithfully twice a day, morning and lunch. But now, I use it more to make me feel full and reduce cravings, instead of keeping me out of the bathroom (ha ha).

Everyday for lunch, I have a small container of sugar free jello. I always thought that the jello was lacking something, so one day, I asked my wife to include my lunch time dose in the jello when she makes it for me. She stirs it in as she pours the hot jello into the serving cups. 1 Tablespoon per cup. This stuff is great! It has substance and grit. I now feel that I am consuming food (eg: dessert) instead of liquified water at lunch.

I use the sugar stuff because it is less expensive; but, you can try the sugar free stuff as well. The smooth texture is less "gritty" than the other. If you never had it, start with a small container in case you don't like it. Remember to stir well, ingest while it is still swirling, and drink it down all at once or it will settle out. I use a tablespoon in a large glass (12 oz) of tap water.

My morning glass gives me a full feeling that lasts until lunch. My lunch dose in jello feels like dessert, and if I get the munchies at night, I'll do an extra glass of it and then stick a piece of cinnamon gum in my face.

8 months and I went from 195 to 150 with a goal of 140-145.

Another benefit of taking Metamucil daily is that it helps to lower your cholesterol.

I take Konsyl -- the powdered form. It has no sugar, almost no flavor. The texture is kinda fun, but some may not like it.

I started taking it to treat Iritable Bowel Syndrom (IBS) and to lower my cholesterol. It has cured my IBS and my cholesterol is down. It also lowers my level of hunger (when I don't take it in the morning I am ravenously hungry by 11 AM and stay hungry all day).
