Just thought this might be a good idea..haven't seen a lot of posts from men my age and I thought they could relate. I am 6'3 and began this diet about a month back at 190 pounds. I am already lean in many areas so my goal was simply to lose weight in areas that I accumulate the most....belly, chest and face.

I got back from vacation a few weeks ago and have really been going hard-core as much as possible..as well as exercising by either running/walking or lifting weights. So far....I could not be more pleased with the results. One thing that I have really been happy with is the fact that my overall weight has only gone down 6-7 pounds..seem to fluctuate on the scale between 182-185, but I can really really tell in the areas around my waist and face.

A few things I have done if your goal is to try to maintain lean muscle, not lose too much weight so you look too skinny and lose fat..

(1) Drink plenty of water throughout the day
(2) DO NOT focus on the weight scale for progress..it fluctuates for whatever reasons..focus in on measurements around your key areas..for me measuring around my waist. The reason why I say this is that I put myself on the weight scale this morning..I weighed 1-2 more pounds than a few days ago but when I measured my waist, I had lost about 3/4-inch. This tells me that although my overall weight isn't going down..my muscle is increasing slightly and my fat is decreasing..exactly my goal.
(3) Work out with running and hit the weights every few days...all of the protein on this diet really seems to facilitate lean muscle growth.
(4) Mix up your foods..bacon and eggs can be boring..spend a little money stocking your fridge and pantry with a variety of options.
(5) If I indulge in alcohol..I usually try to keep it at vodka, rum and mix it with a diet drink or soda....only advice I give is to eat before you start drinking. I haven't noticed that alcohol inhibits progress...but it does make you hungry and it can be easy to stray if you are tipsy.
(6) Take fiber supplements...I use Fiber Choice..helps your digestive system and keeps you regulat.
(7) BE PATIENT!! I tried this before and I crapped out for whatever reason. The bottom line is that I don't miss anything I used to eat before at all..I don't crave it. Maybe its true that scientifically your cravings go away eventually. This isn't a diet to me at all..it is just a matter of making choices what is really important..a pastry and donut or feeling good about yourself..it's easy to me.

My goal is to get down to a good 178-180 pounds if possible and get my waist (navel) measurement down to about 32. I am still at Phase 1 and will stick on it a little longer than recommended.

I consider myself still on Phase 1 and I am going to

wow dalross, sounds like you are doing great. I'm not a guy, but those are good tips for everyone on the diet, especially the water aspect. At first it was a tough adjustment, but now I've gotten used to it. And it's true, you don't miss much food wise at all. Good luck with your continued success!
