You guys are all doing so well! Those are some great points totals - I'm going to have to work hard to catch up! Now that my gross asthma cough is FINALLY gone, I'll be doing much better this week in the exercise department, and should be able to get in those extra cardio points.

I'm annoyed with my eating today. My ravenous TOM appetite got the best of me, and I had a subway sandwich - 6 inches, honey oat bread (better than the "wheat," but still NOT OK). I'm going to be really strict with myself, and work really hard to control it. It's not cravings for anything in particular - I just have a huge appetite before my period, and am always seeking something really filling. Should have bought a good, hearty lunch to work. That is what I'll be doing the rest of this week.

Cheeky, I second the evil ravenous TOM devil in me today. Why is it always sweets for me? Well, at least I did two cardio sessions today. We're doing awesome ladies! Keep it up.

me too, me too. Hate the TOM cravings! I usually graze all day and don't move. Really sad. Did better this time, thanks to the challenge!!!

I need to amp up my workout for the rest of the week. Feel like I haven't done enough for the past 2 days... Hopefully starting tonight!

Kinda quiet here this week, everyone must be Exercising!!!

I've got lots of canning and cleaning to do so I haven't worked out as much as planned yet. I'll be out on the bike in the morning and again Friday morning for a longer ride. My in-laws are visiting over the weekend but I'll have to make time to get some biking/walking/yoga in! Can't let you all down!

A few of you are trying new recipes as one of your goals. Let's post them here. I love finding new recipes but they're even better when someone gives a review first!

Hi All,

Sorry, I was going to post yesterday but was feeling kinda bummed. Decided to weigh-in at the gym (no scale at home) and I was up 2.6 pounds since the last time I weighed, which was less than a week ago. I know I haven't eaten an extra 10,000 calories in 5 days lol but it always gets to me just the same. I'm pretty sure it's all just TOM bloat - I feel much less bloated today. However, my eating has not been as clean as I strive for - nothing horribly off plan (it's all in my journal), and my calorie intake is within acceptable limits for me to continue losing weight, but still! I was pretty mad at myself...which I worked out at the gym with a really intense workout! So I'm sure everything will be fine in the next day or two.

Anyways!

So I have a question. I'm going to be doing a six-hour sea kayaking course on Sunday - I love kayaking, cannot wait! I hope it doesn't get cancelled due to rain...anyways, assuming it's still on, how would you guys count this? I think it should count for points for a 90+ minute workout, and I definitely get upperbody strength boost from kayaking, as well as cardio benefits - it's not intense cardio, but I figure that since it will be done for much longer than the 30 minute requirement, it should still count? Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Thanks! Keep up the great work you guys - I'm always thinking about this challenge at the gym, it's fantastic!

Cheeky

Hi everyone! I got in another cardio session right now. It felt really good. Its been nothing but thunderstorms down here in south Texas so I've been dying for a run outside. Oh well. I'll have to be a gym rat for now. I hope everyone is doing well.

Wow, sea kayaking! That sounds like so much fun. We live on the Yakima river and I would love to get a kayak and learn at some point. I love being on the water.

I would think a 6 hour course could count as cardio, strength, and 90+. How I determine what I can count for a long bike ride is to break it down. A 2 hour ride can break into 90min cardio and still have 30 minutes left to count as strength as long as I did some hills or really pushed my speed.

Have fun and let us know how it goes!

Awesome job Emmy! I miss thunderstorms but I know what you mean when you're dying to do something outside. We very rarely get storms here and unfortunately the lightning brings fires. Weather shows we may get one tonight. I hope it brings rain instead of fires.

I'm pretty thrilled with myself right now. I set off this morning for my bike ride. To get to the paved road I have to head up a steep gravel hill. Somedays I make it up and feel good, sometimes I just want to go back down and stay home. Today was a stay home day. My legs were burning and I was panting just going up that hill today but I kept going. I had planned on 16 miles but after 2 I was considering dropping that to 8. After 4 I still wanted to turn around and head home but then remembered the blackberry bushes along the road. Hmmm, I really wanted a handful of blackberries so I forced myself on. I made it to the blackberries and they must have recharged me 'cause I kept going. I took a different turn today so I could tackle a longer hill and I actually made it up the hill! Coming home was a little easier but I'm beat right now. I'm just excited I did the 16 with the hill and didn't wuss out like I really wanted to!!!

Happy Friday guys!

I'll try to check in at least once a day over the weekend. My in-laws are flying in tonight so I'll be entertaining. :D Hopefully I'll get another bike ride in today and maybe a Yogilates. I've still got some miles to go in order to meet my goal.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Hey everyone,

I have to admit, I've been quite a slacker with workouts this week. I have been good with my eating, but not so much with fitness. So far, I did yoga on Monday (which will count as 1 strength), and didn't do anything again until today. It's not true that I didn't do anything. On Tuesday, I gave a 1 hour massage, which definitely burns calories. Yesterday, I took a 20 minute walk... which is also good, but neither of those will count for workouts. Today, I did a 50 minute, walk/hike/jog. There were some pretty hard trails with steep hills. On the way back, I wanted to take the easy route, but we didn't- we went back up the hilly rocky terrain, so I'm giving myself a "push it" for that. :) I'm going to count that whole thing as 1 cardio and 1 strength. I'll make sure I work out this weekend too.

Great job, Luv, as always.

Cheeky- have fun kayaking!

Hi Guys!

Thanks Luvs for the guidance on how to count the kayaking course. It looks like it's going to be a gorgeous weekend (after a day of horrible rain yesterday!), so I'm really excited about it! A bit nervous too, as I'm going with a group of very athletic people. Although I've kayaked a few times before, I still get nervous setting out on a course with people that I don't know, especially since I can be a bit of a klutz :D - but I'm trying not to psych myself out!

Roxy and Greenforest - I hear ya on not doing so well this week, but for me, it's been the eating, not the exercise. I haven't been eating too much overall, and haven't had junk food either (until last night - had dessert last night), but I need to work more protein into my lunches and more veggies into my breakfast. That's what I've been slacking on lately.
I'm going to set my goals next week all around eating, and make them very specific. I don't even crave specific foods, I have just been VERY hungry the past week and it always turns out I don't bring enough with me to work, and there aren't many perfectly beach-y options to buy there - so I need to fix this.

Anyways, that's my vent! Hope everyone is having a great time exercising this weekend!
