Hey Team! How is everyone doing this week? I had a doctor's appointment today and I gained 5 pounds (remember I'm 17 weeks pregnant). I told him that was great considering it felt like I have gained much more. I double checked with him about exercises and what I should and shouldn't be doing and I still have the green light for everything. In a few weeks I'll have to stop doing anything flat on my back. Guess I can still work on those abs!
Padow~I do use a mat when I do yoga on my carpet, but mostly it's because the texture of my carpet hurts the palms of my hands. But I don't have any problems with the mat on the carpet.
julta~I barely remember the Orange Crush days if that gives you any indication. |

julta - I agree with what rayjen said about your heel. If it's a shooting pain straight up it could be heel spurs. I can tell my plantar fas---- is acting up. I've been going barefoot alot and my sandals have lost their arch support - feel like my arch is fractured sometimes. I usually have only had problems in my toes, like a pinched nerve. Good shoes with good arch support is a must! I use a cold can of soda to roll my foot on.
Hope it gets better!
I did my aerobics/strength class today and ran into one of the Curves memebers afterwards. She said it really looked like I got a more intense workout! My hair was dripping wet, kind of gross, next time I'll remember to bring a hat along!
Keep up the good work!! |

| Thanks for all the tips!! I am rolling my feet on a frozen water bottle as I type! :D I did it last night and they even felt better this morning already. I knew that Plantar F....whatever, was part of my problem but the other is up the back, kind of outside part of the heel, so not actually the bottom of my foot. Would that be the achilles tendon? |

Hey all. Sorry to hear about the foot pain ... nothing worse. I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to go get fitted soon. I switched brands at my last purchase and I can certainly tell the difference (for the worse). I stride hard on my left heel and have noticed some throbbing in that heel.
Glad to hear you're all going strong. I need to pick it up soon. With the baseball game last night (where my boyfriend pitched a strong 8 innings, but still lost), and not doing cardio since Monday, I feel behind. I did get in strength on Tuesday so that's something. Tonight I have a HH. I think I may have to call it early to be able to squeeze in the elliptical.
Here's a question. I usually get up about 5:45 a.m. just to prep for work. And that's to get me into work by about 7:30 a.m. (w/a 50 minute drive). I'm thinking of trying to get my sorry butt up to work out in the a.m. (probably an extra hour). I'm thinking my yoga dvd, but may extend to other activities as I'm prepping to run my races. Anyone else get up super early and exercise? How does it go for you? Way back that was my preference, but because I get up so early just for work, I've had to resort to evenings only. |

im thinking about becoming a morning exerciser as well! i go on my long runs on saturday and am up EARLY, and i dont seem to mind it. however, i still cant wrap my head around getting up early, working out, and then working 9 hours. i think i would DIE by the end of the day.
pa'dow, maybe you mentioned this, but what races are you training for?
julta, its hard to pinpoint some areas sometimes. check out this picture: http://www.arthroscopy.com/nucleus/Achill1.jpg
is that where it hurts, or somewhere different?
glad to hear youre feeling a bit better already, i was amazed at what a little ice and stretching did for mine! |

Pa'dow- I think you really have to know yourself and what kind of person you are. I am a TERRIBLE morning person, and the one time I tried going to the gym before work, I felt like it was the longest day ever. I prefer the afternoons, personally, but if you are already up early and it sounds like you are a morning person, it might fit better into your day.
So far, 2 baseball games, one won and one lost (to the KC Royals, what the heck??), both mostly beachy. I think this goal might be one I have already faulted on. Monday's PawSox game, I had some cheese and veggies before the game, but by 7:30 I was starving for dinner. I saw someone with a salad and got excited! My husband and I searched high and low and couldn't find a salad vendor anywhere! Finally, I ate half of his sausage peppers and onion. I know that wasn't a wonderful choice, but considering it was that, fries, chicken fingers, etc. I went with the closest thing to veggies, although I know they were still really bad. Then, of course, they announce something about "looking for healthy food choices?". HA!! So, I passed the sausage back to him unfinished, and (finally) found the place where they had salad.
So, that was my defection. Didn't stay 100% beachy, but my husband said he was proud of me and probably couldn't have passed on finishing the rest off. I would agree with that, in the past I probably wouldn't have either- I didn't even think twice about it! So even though it was a lost battle on a goal, I think it was a win in a change of thinking habits! |

Thanks raynjen and BoSoxGirl - I'll have to try it out. I tend to stay late at work - it's something about when everyone else leaves and it gets quiet that I really like. I get so much done then. If I get up early, I could do that and not have to worry about getting exercise in at night - or any I do would be bonus points. Great - I smell a Week Three goal coming on!
I had my first falter since being back on Phase I last night at the game as well. I did go for the nuts (way too many). Got the small bag, but then helped DH with his shelled peanuts. I know, why is it you see people carrying appetizing items but every vendor you pass has the same exact thing? No dice on the turkey brat, they didn't have them last night. So I opted for a Southwestern Chicken wrap. It wasn't too illegal. I pulled most of the wrap off and only dipped into the seasoned mayo instead of slathering it on. It kept me from using over half of it. Otherwise it had a few pieces of chicken, lots of romaine, tomatoes and pepper jack cheese. So really besides the nut intake and the tortilla (being I'm just finishing Phase I), it wasn't too overboard. And it's the first day of the challenge that I didn't get my 64 oz. of H2O in. DRAT!
I heard today that we didn't get selected for the 10 mile run lottery. That was a part of the Twin Cities marathon. Otherwise, I'm going to sign up for the Women Run the Cities 5K that will be September 23rd. I better sign up now that I'm not in the 10 mile run, just to keep up on the motivation. |

I'm also signing up for a 5K for Sept. I'm a little nervous about being able to complete it, as I am still running on a treadmill and 2 mi. has been just about the average of what I can do. Still, I'm working on it.
Padow, those darn ball games are a SBDers nightmare. |

Yep that its, although sometimes it feels like it is off to the side I'm sure that is what it is. So do I need to do some more stretching for it. Any ideas for you great ladies?
Pa'dow! I am a morning exercisers. I usually get up at 4:30 quarter to 5 to exercise. I like doing it in the morning because it's cool in the summer. It is sometimes harder in the winter. But I also know myself if I didn't do it in the morning I am way to tired at night, plus that is time to make dinner and spend with the kids.
And now it is confession time....although my exercise has been good, my eating has been anything but...I don't think I could get much farther from the beach then I've been. But I am determined to get back on track....I will get back on track, I will get back on track...I will get back on track. |

I'm a morning exerciser, always have been. Just can't get myself to do it at night. I don't have to get up as early these days as I sleep with the boss  (Ha, he's my hubby!) I also tend to have a touchy plumbing system and have to wait till that's ok before I leave the house. My one class starts @ 8:30 and when I go to Curves I try to get there around 8:00 (after the gab-pak leaves - all they do is exercise their jaws).
I'm headed to another baseball game myself on Sunday, might get to see Bonds break a homerun record - hope not - he's on the other team!!!! But I am worried about the food choices! We're going with some people who have seating in a special area where they bring food to your table. I think they have a better selection of food. I might smuggle some carrots and string cheese in with me.
Got to go, no workout this morn - have to go apt hunting with DD. |

Thanks all for your comments about exercising in the morning. I definitely think I'm going to give it a go next week - you'll see it in my goals. What the heck - why not?
So I go to Happy Hour with a group of guys last night. I'm kind of mad at myself because I allowed them to suck me into the 1/2 price appetizers rather than looking at the full menu and ordering something more legal. Needless to say - not the best choice. But I did force myself to come home and jump on the elliptical at 9 p.m. So I have that going for myself.
I watched Burn Notice on USA while I was pumping it. Has anyone seen that? It's actually not bad.
Hey packerprincess - you must be going to a Brewer game. I'm originally a cheesehead myself and grew up watching Rollie Fingers, Paul Molitor, Gorman Thomas and Robin Yount. Love that Miller Park - just don't get there enough. Can't wait until 2010 when the Twins have their new stadium. |

I stopped getting notified about our tread and then decided to check it just in case. Wow! I missed a lot! Sorry you guys, I hope you don't think I'm too much of a slacker.
I am not a morning person. When I used to belong to a gym (10 years ago) I could get up and get to a class before going to work. But the earliest class was 8:00 am and sometimes that was pushing it  . Now that I'm a stay at home mom, I sure don't get up early, especially in the summer. During the school year I have to get up by 7:30 at the latest, but today I got up a little before 9:00 (had problems sleeping last night and didn't go to be until almost 3:00 am). So anyway here I am sitting in my workout clothes and I need to quit typing and get out on the treadmill before it gets to hot (and my kids get bored with the TV.) Good luck today everyone!! |

Those were the days! Loved those guys too, esp Robin, he was my favorite! We ran into Gorman Thomas at the airport last year - actually Kevin met him in the mens room. When I came out of the bathroom, Kevin introduced me and I said oh yeah, that's when the Brewers were good! New stadium is nice and they're doing great this year - so far! |
