well folks the long and short of it is that right at this moment I have a 15-20 pieces of delish wedding cake sitting in my fridge (dont ask how)...which the bride has sweetly said "is for me..and to eat as much as i want"

and i want...!!!! ...ive already devoured 3 pieces. ..and im alone in the house and will get tempted some more.

Cant throw it away since the bride will be back on monday morning..and is my roomate..and am in perilous danger of wolfing it down.

my question: is it ok to freeze wedding cake..and she can thaw it when she wants to eat it. or not?......or any other ideas?

Step away from the cake ... Instead you ask yourself why you are on SB and if any(more?) cake is what is going to get you to your goal.

To answer your question, it is ok to freeze. My husband and I froze the top part of our wedding cake to thaw and eat on our first wedding anniversary.

Best of luck with your decision!

If she said it's for you to eat, then if you throw it out she will never know unless you tell her you did...let her assume you ate it and throw it out!

I'm a big believer in trashing that stuff before it does further damage. Better to have it filling out the garbage than my behind!

After all, if it's "for you," and you carefully freeze it so that someone else such as the bride can thaw it out and enjoy it . . . then what's to stop you from thawing it as a snack as well?

Toss it and tell her you had a big cake-eating party or whatever while she was gone - you know you'll just keep eating it otherwise...

Many people follow the tradition of freezing wedding cake and eating it on their first anniversary, so wrap it tight and bury it in the recesses of the freezer. STOP EATING IT!!!

i'd freeze it ... not only will you not eat it, but if i were your roommate i'd think it was really sweet that you were so considerate to save it for me and my husband to enjoy together.

Freeze half and give the other half to another friend.

When i started phase one I took my loaf of blueberry-pecan bread to my mom's office so I would not be tempted.

Also, it would be sort of hard to eat rock hard frozen cake!

thank ye all for your replies! ..:)

in the meantime ive frozen the cake..and hope that i am too lazy to thaw it// or the cravings dissappear in the time it thaws and good sense prevails.

i know the best way to get rid of temptation would be to throw away the cake...but somehow i feel very guilty for throwing away somebody's special day cake. :?

i hope i dont find a way to eat rock hard cake tho..lol...if you know it then dont tell me..:)

hi just an idea ,the way i stay out of the fridge , i put a recent picture of myself , which are not very flattering and paste them on fridge so every time i get tempted to get in there and eat out of habit, not hunger. i see that picture , also i also have a old picture of me when i was thinner . so i will see why i do not want or need to eat out of fridge and a reminder to grab a piece of celery and not the cake icing. hope this helps

My husband and I froze our wedding cake and it still tasted awesome, a year later. We wrapped it tightly in plastic wrap, then with aluminum foil, and put it in a freezer Ziploc bag.

But if she told you to do whatever you want with it, I would throw it out. It'll only be calling your name as long as it's there.

I think freezing the cake was the best option. Wedding cakes are extremely expensive... if the bride and groom want to enjoy it later, they can. They bought it, it's their option to throw it out! When one of my friends got married a few years ago, her wedding cake was the most expensive purchase of the entire wedding (more than her dress and more than her ring!).
