Hi All,
My name is Bonnie and I just started the SB Monday. (Yesterday) So far, so good. I have no strong urges other than hot chocolate...which I gave up this weekend.
I am 5'5" and 168.
I have tried all kin ds of diets before and I believe it's the failure of these diets that has contributed to my weight now. I just had a baby in November and my weight ballooned up to the 190's! Well, now that it's been 5 months, I have lost all the baby weight, but came to the harsh realization that the weight I am now cannot be blamed on the baby weight.
:? Rather, my love for candy, cookies and Italian food. Warm crusty breads...
I still wear some of the maternity pants...the ones with the semi stretchy waistband. And it's getting ridiculous!
I used to be a size 8 when I first met hubby in 2000. Now I am fitting into a size 14 - 16.
My goal is to get down to 130. So that's a goal of a 38 pound weight loss.
The meals so far have been fun to prepare and I feel really good about my decision to finally do something about my weight. This feels like a long term solution rather than a fad diet.
I have also vowed not to weigh myself during the week, and weigh in only on Mondays at 9am.
I guess, my fear is that I'll get through this first week and find I have gained weight. Afterall, I don't feel hungry and that feels abnormal to me for a diet plan.
Anyway, here I am, week 1, phase 1 on the Beach!
Looking forward to keeping this up to date.
Bonnie

Thank you for your support!
Congrats on the weight loss too!
Very inspiring to hear.
I just thought of a sweet snack drink...not sure if it's legal, but here is what I am thinking:
Iced raspberry Cream
raspberry herbal tea bag, heated in a mug of water.
pour over a tall glass of ice
add 2 tblsp ff half and half or ff milk
sweeten with Splenda
I love to "drink" my sweet snacks..that's why I was such a sucker for hot chocolate.
Feeling good today. I know it's too early to lose weight (only my 3rd day) but I already feel trimmer... perhaps it's just knowing that I am doing something to combat my weight.
No bread in 3 days! I can't believe how dependent I was on the stuff. I used it as comfort, as a missing piece at dinner, etc. I'm not really craving it... though last night I saw a Pizza Hut ad and missed pizza, today is different.
I have so many clothes downstairs I can't fit into including a black strappy dress I wore in 2000 and a beautiful cream coat from Banana Republic.
I would LOVE to go out on the town with my hubby in this outfit. It's been a long time since I have felt truly beautiful.
Again, thank you for the responses, ladies! Nice to know there is support here! |

Had a 1 egg omlette with ff cheese and 3 slices Canadian Bcon with some asparagus for breakfast.
No time for a snack.
Had to meet friends for lunch at this pub type place. I watched as everyone else ordered meatloaf sandwiches, piles of fries and hovered around bowls of bread pudding.
I ordered a big tossed green salad, no dressing and felt good. I removed the mounds of bread they brought with it along with the croutons.
I didn't feel hungry for the potatos or bread - which is quite a feat for me, since I love both.
Maybe it's because I caught a glimpse of my reflection on the way to the restaurant or maybe it's because my cravings are diminishing.
At any rate, I feel pretty good about this - my first outting to a restaurant and I didn't fall down in a pile of weepy tears over a bowl of bread pudding!
Felt a little queasy this morning...maybe too many eggs for breakfast this week? Even though I have kept my daily egg consumption to 1 egg per day, this is a lot for me.
I still have anxiety that I will weigh in on Monday and find that I have GAINED weight... Still, I know I am improving my health and learning a lot about food. |

Hi Bonnie!
You can still have hot chocolate, albeit in limited quantities! I'm on phase one as well, and I've made a couple of these recently.
Take your mug and put in 2 teaspoons each of cocoa powder and Splenda. Add a little bit of skim milk to make a smooth paste. Then add hot skim milk and stir - it's yummy! :D Of course this would have to go under the allotted 75 calories for sweet treats, but if that's what you're craving it'll hit the spot!
Sounds like you're doing really well - keep it up! |

weighed in today after week 1, Phase 1:
7:30am
165lb
That's a 3 lbs weight loss.
I had thought I'd lose more since I feel I have so much to lose. However, 3 lbs is still 3 lbs! And...not once last week was I ever hungry or miserable!
The weekend was great, except for the delicious looking 4 layer chocolate cake friends brought over for a birthday we were hosting. I passed on the cake, but watched every bite consumed. No one but my husband knows I am on the SBD. I just don't want ot make a huge deal out of it, nor do I want anyone to feel obligated to tell me I look good...
After they left, I ate 1 fudgecicle as a treat.
I think I need to be drinking more water. Plus, I haven't even been exercising. So that will certainly help. My workout video from Amazon.com arrives this week! I wan tot blast that baby fat! YAY!
Thank you for all the support and plainjane, thanks for the coco recipe! yum!

Weight in end of Phase 1!
Start of diet: 168
Start of Phase 2 weigh in: 160!!!!
I've lost 8 pounds total in 2 weeks!
The 2nd week of Phase 1 was when I lost more weight, I think because my body is finally adjusting itself. Amazing what happens when you eliminate white flour and sugar!
Tempted to stay on Phase 1 another week, however, I think I will gradually begin introducing Phase 2 good carbs. I've been counting on having chocolate dipped strawberries for a while now! :D
I think I will limit my intake of wheat bread, however. Just tread lightly.
I understand why people are scared to switch to Phase 2.
This past week, my hair has been shinier, I have felt like my tummy is getting back to the prepregnancy belly. I just feel 'cleaner' and healthier.
Hooray for the SB diet!
Height 5' 5"
start weight 168
first 2 weeks lost: 8lbs
Goal weight: 130
