Maybe I should have put this in the runner's thread. I'm not sure I consider myself a full-fledged runner yet though, although I've done a few races.

I will go out and run 5, 6, or 7 miles and then come home and think (or say out loud...) "If I can do that, why am I fat?" Then I think of how much better I would run if I lost this weight!!!!

My question is for those of you who have had weight loss while running for exercise. How has your weight loss impacted your running? (Endurance, speed, less injuries, all of the above?) I love the feeling of accomplishment after a long run; and the potential improvement in that stands to be a huge motivator for me w/ this woe.

I am 5'2" and weigh somewhere between 165-170. I can't help but think my legs and feet would do better running they were able to do it with 30 less pounds!!!!!

Would love to hear your experiences.

My running got better the more weight I lost. Now that I have gained about 10 pounds back I totally feel it. It is like running with weights on my legs. Not as easy. However, I do lose my weight really fast when I'm up a few pounds because of running. My speed gets better and longer distances don't seem as long. I do have to say, that the more I run the more I crave food. Its MORE important what you eat when you run because you have to replenish your body properly to keep running at an optimum level. I think my mistake was that I thought I could eat what I wanted because I knew I was burning so many calories. I really feel it on my runs when I eat junk. So, stick to the SBD way of life. It helps EVERYONE.
