Darlene

Hi Everyone!

Im Darlene, age 22...married with no kids, to husband EJ, age 28 (29 in July).

Even though its EXTREMELY hard to admit, Im 5'11" and a whopping 345lbs- as I always say, the height helps right? LOL
Even harder to admit- my husband who is about a 1/4 inch taller than me weights around 480lbs. He has always being a huge guy, but Ive always loved him overweight or not. I worry constantly about his health...and my health.

I had never heard of the SBD before, but last Monday (05/03) I was talking to my mother in law and she had mentioned that my sister in law was trying to do it. My sister in law lost lots of weight on Atkins, but gained it all back plus more. She is a Yo-Yo dieter.
It got me interested, because Id never heard of the diet...so I started doing research on the internet. I found a ton of information, and then this forum which is a wealth of knowledge...I know this diet is for me!

Ive always being overweight, and even if Im still chubby I want to have a healthy lifestyle...I dont want my husband, or myself to die at a young age.

I have a LONG way to go, I would like to lose 160lbs, and hubby needs to lose about 250lbs!

Im really excited yet really nervous. I havent started yet, I start this Saturday (With all the food we need to buy I had to wait until I get paid to start LOL)
Ive never been able to stick to a diet....Im hoping SBD will change everything, plus Ive found an awesome SBD buddy. I posted a message looking for a budy and started talking to ladybugzz- we have so much in common, and she is in the long haul too with a large goal like mine. She is just wonderful and I know her support during weak moments will be of immense help!

Saturday morning I am having a cleansing ceremony of my kitchen, removing all bad stuff- which is prob my WHOLE kitchen. Once that is done I will do my first grocery shop...I dont want to think right now about how much I will end up spending.

Ive read through quite a few journals here, and like the idea of keeping one...so this is the start...my jorney begins Saturday! Wish me luck!!!!

Good luck Darlene. Today is my 1st day on the SBD. I am 37 1/2 5'4 and 169 on a good day or 170 something on a bad. I'm all stomach and buttie. I'm please with the rear end of me, but the front is a major disappointment. (I look like Im about 6 months pregnant)I I keep alot of veggies in my house because my kids (18 and 15) love salads and would eat them everyday if they could. Little do they know, but they are going to be dieting with me. Health wise, diabeties runs in my family. My mother has type 2 and my dads mother also had it. So, I want to prevent it. I'd like to keep track of your successes so I'll will check you out periodically. Take care and again good luck to you.

Hey Darlene!!

I know it feels like a million miles away....

i have a total of about 60 to lose...and i would like to lose more ...and it still feels so far away... so far!! I freak out sometimes...but the people here really help me to calm down and focus and remember that it is just day by day....

I know you can do this... my mom lost 100+ pounds on a diet made by her doctor that is SO close to south beach. She added in exercise and has now become SMALLER than me...

*hugs*... we are here for you!

You will do just fine. thats good that you are planning your meals in advance. It will also help you in the $$ department. I find it easier to have everything at once instead of shopping daily. Thats costly. Maybe I'll sit down today and make my menu for the week.

Ok here goes my menu for the first week. I didnt plan snacks or breakfasts because bfast's will consist of pretty much eggs, bacon, and those quiche thingys...I have no idea what I will feel like each day- the same with snacks. I have a list of good snacks, will buy it and just choose what I want each day....the main meals though go like this:

Oh PS: When I refer to cheese in my posts of course its low fat cheese.

Saturday:
Lunch- Bunless hamburgers with lots of salad.
Dinner- Stuffed skinless chicken breast (Stuffed with cheese, mushrooms and spinach), with grilled asparagus (rubbed with a little olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper)

Sunday:
Lunch- Taco salad, lean beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa etc...
Dinner- I have no control over, we have family Sunday dinners so depends on who is in charge of cooking. I will call when we know, find out what they are having and if its not very SBD friendly we will prob eat something before we go.

Monday:
Lunch- Meat wraps- Meat (Ham, turkey...not sure yet) wrapped around cheese and a pickle. hard bolied eggs & cucumber sticks
Dinner- Fish (Not sure what kind yet, will decide when shopping) w/ salad

Tuesday:
Lunch- Tuna salad on a bed of lettuce with tomatoes and asorted veges
Dinner- P1 friendly Chili- Lean meat, black beans, tomatoes, chili seasoning, onions, peppers etc

Wednesday:
Lunch- Ham with salad & dressing, maybe a few sunflower seeds.
Dinner- Chicken, bacon & brocolli bake ( I saw someone post this, maybe of a diff forum I dunno, pretty much seasoned chicken diced up with diced bacon and brocolli, all baked together with cheese on top)

Thursday:
Lunch- Seasoned black beans, celery & cheese or PB
Dinner- Stuffed bell Peppers (Bell peppers stuffed with seasoned hamburger meat, topped off with the mock mashed potatoes and cheese)

Friday:
Lunch- Chicken ceaser salad ( no croutons of course)
Dinner- Steak topped with sauteed mushrooms & onions, steamed veges (Brocolli, cauliflour, greenbeans etc)

Ok that ends week one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any suggestions on the menu?

Also this is my list of snacks, if anyone can think of something to add please tell me.

Almonds (Oh by the way I hate nuts, so I wont be eating them but hubby will)
Pistachios
peanuts
SF Jello
Celery & PB
Cheese sticks
cottage cheese
hardboiled eggs
various veges

Water .... water ... plenty of water! I can't stress too much about how important the water is! Not only is it essential for a healthy body, but it also fills you up. I always have a big glass of water before I eat and usually one whilst I'm drinking ... followed by, you've guessed it, another one afterwards.

Good luck with your new way of eating and living.

*hugs*

and the water...yes...water... i try to drink about 120 oz a day.. i am slacking lately...but... it can really make a difference in how you feel !!

Add Skim Ricotta to your list. It is great for desserts and possible breakfasts.

That's what I thought, too(about the Ricotta). Then I tried the Mock Cinnabon(ricotta, cinnamon, vanilla, packet of splenda) and it was SOOOO Yummy. It's my breakfast in the morning.
