First of all, please don't flame me. I'm just posting this to share my experience with The South Beach Diet.
I started at the beginning of April, 2007. (3 months ago). I've stayed on phase 1.
(I was in Europe for 3 weeks in May, and while there, I ate pretty much whatever I wanted, although I didn't pig out. I had pasta, pizza, tiramisu [while in Italy], and plenty of beer and pub food, [while in Amsterdam]. I walked a LOT while in Europe, in Murano and Venice you don't have a lot of choice, lol.)
As of this morning, I've lost 42 pounds. I'm doing AT LEAST 30 minutes of cardio every day, and I'm going to add yoga to this routine. (I'll do yoga in the afternoons.)
I think I'm more suited to an Atkins-style way of eating, but I've kept elements of South Beach as well. I love legumes, (beans, etc), and have them almost every day. I drink milk every day. I eat as many vegetables as I can, and take a multivitamin.
So I've sort of developed my own way of eating.....keeping the elements of SB and of Atkins that feel right to me, and that keep me happy and craving-free. I'm very strongly motivated, and for me, at least, an agressive attitude towards weight loss is keeping me on track. I still have well over 100 lbs to lose. I'll be in the Caribbean in January for two weeks, and I'm aiming for an additional 50lbs (at least) by then. I am under the care of a doctor....my health is excellent.
I'm posting this to share my experience, not to discourage people from the SB diet, which I feel is excellent. South Beach will be my model eating plan once I've reached my goal, but for weight loss I felt the need to make my own path.
I'll pop back in in January before my trip to share my progress!
Take care, all! |
