| 30-45 mins "seems" about right to me as well. yoga has a different rationale for an "empty" stomach and a longer gap. |

The reason I said I was eating a lot of calories is because I have been tracking what I eat on sparkpeople and I always fall in the range (1200-1550) that it suggests I be in. Do you think this range is too low?
And for the record, I am on my 4th week of phase 2. I was eating more starches and fruits each day, but my weight loss stalled for the first two weeks so I cut back. This was me trying to listen to my body. Apparently this was also me failing... I was trying though! This is why I have you all
I'm not a big fan of online calorie calculators, since they can only guess what your body is doing based on a couple of stats. But 1200-1550 isn't a lot of calories at all. 1200 is generally considered the absolute bare minimum, and the paperwork for a recent medical analysis that I did urged that healthy adults not eat less than 1400 per day. They recommend using exercise to create the bulk of the calorie deficit rather than very low calories over an extended period.
As for the second part of your quote, that's very common. It's probably just water, not fat, so people can't panic about that. There's a nice explanation about this phenomenon in my FAQ if you're interested.
You have a great attitude, so I'll think you'll do very well longterm!!!
Thank you! I appreciate that! I have read about the phenomenon and it's good to hear that a lot of other experience that stall. This is all a learning process for me, but it's nice to have some reassurance that I wasn't doing something wrong :) I am just glad now that I am keeping the weight off and losing an extra 1-3 lbs each week.
I will try not to plan my meals by the online-calculator. It's just a quick and easy way to keep myself on track. The whole "eat until your satisfied" thing is very difficult for me, so I like to at least keep an eye out for how much I am consuming. But yesterday I did have the banana and peanut butter (and didn't feel dizzy at ALL) and I let myself have 100% whole wheat spaghetti, filled with veggies and meat, since I definitely haven't been having over 1400 calories a day. The last thing I want to do is deprive my body of what it needs- this is just as much about my health as it is about weight loss. (Although that is sometimes hard to remember)
I appreciate all of your help. If I experience the dizzies again, and I have been monitoring my diet as you all have suggested, I'll talk to my doctor. Thanks!! |

I think in your early posts where you put your daily type of menu, there was no afternoon snack, so it looked like you were going from lunch to the end of the day without any food and then exercising. Usually not a productive combination! ;) Glad it seems to be improving. It's all a learning process.
Also FWIW, a serving of pasta/grains is 1 oz or about a half cup cooked! I tend to stretch that a bit, but eating WW pasta on SBD, while allowed, changes focus quite a bit from what is usually the main ingredient pre-SBD to simply a side grain with a more balanced approach that still focuses primarily on veggies and lean proteins.
Sounds like you're coming at it from the right perspective though! |

Thank you for that, redroxco! I appreciate your help (all of you!) To let you know, I said that I had an afternoon snack, but no morning snack. It's not really possible with where I work to sneak a snack in mid-morning, but I always make sure I have something for my commute home! That's actually why I initially thought it just couldnt be a calorie intake problem- I always ate something before I worked out.
And don't fret- I weighed my pasta out before I ate it. :) there were much more veggies on my plate than anything else, but I had grilled chicken with it. I know that WW pasta shouldnt be the main course, I just wanted to show that I was trying to move further into phase 2 and eating more calories per day. (because from the looks of it, how I was eating was probably not long term sustainable)
I even cooked enough so I could have grilled chicken and veggies for lunch today instead of a south beach meal (I have read about how they really just defeat the point of the diet).
This is why I love this forum! You all keep me in check. Thank you! |
