| SOOOO off topic but... Has anyone ever planned a family reunion? I'm planning a reunion crusie for July 2008 and I was wondering how you got in touch with your family and what are some little details that were important? |

I have never been to a family reunion but yours sounds like it's going to be fun! a cruise!
I'd say be sure to bring pictures of pivotal moments in your life. Like grads, awards, babies, weddings.
I'm planning a wedding and I invited a lot of my family, but there are so many I don't even know. Like my dad's whole side. But for my other relatives, my mom and aunt gave me their addresses. Just ask around in your family you remain in close contact with, they will have kept track of them somehow.
Good Luck!!! |

| It's fun to have some sort of family tree poster (a program called Family Tree Maker is really nice) and a collage poster with a bunch of pictures from everyone's past. |

My dad has a weekend long family reunion at his house (the family homestead farm) every year. We have like 50 people camping for the weekend, and then an "extended family" potluck on Saturday night that includes about 200 people!
He's been doing it for so long that it's down to a science by now. He sets up an outdoor (but private) shower, rents a port-a-john and a bouncy house for the kids. All of this, and the paper products (paper plates, napkins, plasticwear) are paid for by each "family's" contribution of $20. Each "family" also brings a dozen eggs and their own drinks and meat for the grill, which is always hot and ready.
Since it's such a big family, we do have some traditions for birthday milestones and such... Here are some of the things that we have done:
 Roast on 40th birthday
 Video (old pictures set to music) on 50th birthday, and a cane with a horn stuck to it that gets passed around.
 Watermelon seed spitting contest (includes a trophy for the furthest spitter!)
 Videos of old family reunions
 Kid's games - Red Rover, Relay Races, etc...
 Campfire & Euchre of course!
 One year, someone did a full family history and made copies for everyone
 This year, someone is putting together stories (memories) about the farm and distributing it as a book for everyone. |

| I remember a song of Celine Dion: if we hold on together family atmosphere is great, I love it when whole family stay around in the dining room. :D But now, it's hard to have that feeling again because my dad died  |
