Hey Everybody! I am a newbie to the site NOT to my adult long battle of le bulge. I am from NC but live in the desert of the pacific NW now. Would rather scrapbook and paint than hike and walk and aerobisize (honesty here no need to "sugar coat" on this site...hahaha) But I ALWAYS feel better after I do and always see better results)

Browsing around the site I have seen WW comments pro and con and am myself now combining the good from WW with the EXCELLENCE of SB. I personally need the accountability of the weekly weigh in but don't care for the meetings even though they are well meaning and all. I also agree with opinions I have read about the manipulation of the points system. My family has Diabetes history, not dire but the existence is dire enough for me. I feel the SB way of eating is good for my family as well as myself. I garden and love the idea of using my hobby to promote healthier eating for my precious kids. Is it that hard to sub in healthier carbs in eating? YEh, realistically it is till you develop the new routines and lifestyles.
Hormonal and emotional tsunamis  also happen but I am teaching myself that one screwed up day really doesn't have to ruin all my success. Forgive yourself and move on! (*note ONE day not SEVERAL ones in a row like I used to have...sigh...)
I really appreciate all the positive info and realistic opinions. Does anyone else out there weekly menu plan for their families? I am trying to develop menu plans I can rotate.
But anyhoo... I just thought I would say hey and see if anyone else out there had sorta Merged the 2. I really don't think that healthy carb choices are pushed by the majority of groups even though there are those who luck out and really get an extremely informed instructor.

Hi!

Welcome!

I am a lifetime WW member but the points were too hard for me--seemed like I was always sooooo hungry. And yes you can manipulate the points for sure
Agree about the accountability "weighing in" WW gives but I am learning how to keep myself accountable (w/out paying WW)

I take my measurements 1 x a month

Every Monday AM I step on my scale and I update my ticker--I never pass on a week--even if I know gained- Admitting a gain which I admit is frustrating keeps me on track

I use portion control which I learned from WW

I drink water which I learned from WW

I exercise (WW recommended)

I JOURNAL every day

As for me I am about 10 lbs higher than my WW lifetime weight, but I am also almost 7 years older from the time I made lifetime, have had 2 children etc.

I have recommitted to SB for 6 months and am down about 22 lbs I don't constantly feel ravenous like I was in WW but I do get hungry every now and then.

Good luck to you

Otter

Hope your experience is positive

Great suggestions! I am already breaking my Diet Pepsi lifeline. (I swear if they took my blood it would "fizz") The water satisfies more after I get past the "bubble" withdrawal. I am exersizing WAY more because I am physically capable even though heavy and I need the water.

I also know that SB eating keeps me from craving and when I have a weak day I automatically can feel the difference.

I still need the accountability for now and will keep the weigh ins through the summer while I am pushing so hard to develop a new lifestyle. It is much cheaper than some of the binges I have been on in the old days. Hopefully by September I can start putting that 12$ a week toward new clothes!
Thanks for the response!

SALAD!

I have always been a big fan of WW. I lost 60 lbs and kept it off for 3 years (until I met my husband, LOL). I've tried to go back a dozen times and I can't seem to make it work anymore. I think all the tricks I learned the first time - all the sugary treats - make it harder now. The biggest difference I've seen on SB is that I'm not so hungry all the time. I was HUNGRY on WW!! A small piece of cheese actually does take my hunger pangs away now until mealtime. I'm only on day 6 - but I feel like a million bucks! People can lose weight and do it in a healthy way in WW - I just can't seem to anymore.
