Since I am not in a challenge this month, I have not been posting much on this forum. I took a major, for me, step foreward today and I would like to tell people on this forum about. At the gym today when I usually do BodyPump following my BodyStep, the BodyStep was cancelled due to a lack of an instructor, a mix up and a shortage of backups. Most people just packed up and left except for 6 of us who went in to spinning classes already in session thereby tripling the class size. Later, on the way out of the gym I was talking to the desk manager and said that I wished I was 10 years younger so I could be an instructor. His answer why should I let age, 60, stop me. I said back, why indeed. I work harder and yet seem to breeze though many of the classes.
Now the bottom line to all this is that today I applied for the training course for the Les Mills certification for BodyVive, a new course that will be offered this fall at the gym. Now is this a way to get ready for retirement or what? This even surpasses my dream of getting a Harley…
BTW, my retirement for the employment of the State of Wisconsin will be in approximate 420 calendar days! |

WOW, OldGreyBob, that is so exciting and SUCH a great idea!!
I would so love to be in one of your classes (you'll whip 'em all into shape!) - too bad you're several states away :)
Good luck, that's fantastic! |

| BobyVive is Les Mills Body training to attract the 40 and over set. Even if I get to instruct it, I plan to continue with BodyPump, BodyStep, and especially BodyCombat. I just hope that the love I have for group exercise to music will rub off. |

Good for you, Bob! I know you'll do a fantastic job. Your enthusiasm shines though via the internet, so I can only imagine what it is in person.
Don't forget BodyFlow once in a while, too! |

| Bob, that is exciting news indeed! You'll be an amazing instructor. Your love for what you do and your enthusiasm is so infectious, I don't see how it can fail to rub on on your students. |

Talked to the head instructor at our health club. Found out how much it will cost me, $300, and my DW said ok! :D
8) 8) 8) It is a 2-1/2 day course at the health club and I am on cloud nine! What a perfect way to get ready of retirement! 8) 8) 8) |

| Exactly! Nothing worse than sitting around the house with nothing to do or look forward to on a daily basis. |

| Wow Bob! You are such an inspiration to everyone on this forum! You are in better shape that most people half your age! Good for you! I hope I find something like that when I send my kids off to school - my baby goes to kindergarten! I am actually thinking of taking some healthy cooking gourmet classes! |

Now the bad news. The class for the region is filled and I am on the waiting list. Oh well. Unfortunately the next class maybe in Milwaukee or Chicago. She did suggest that BodyStep or BodyCombat may be more my speed which completely floored me.
It goes to show you that others see you differently than you see yourself. |

| Well whoever "she" is, she apparently doesn't know you very well. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for an opening in the class. |

| That is fantastic Bob. After reading some of your posts I started a body pump class about 6 months ago. They are fantastic and I have a lot of my friends going to them now. Even when I fell off the wagon food wise I still maintained and I'm sure it's because of the body pump/body attack classes I was going to. Good job! |

| Two very good things came out of this. I never thought that I ever have the ability to instruct BodyCombat, but the head instructor thought I did. (BodyCombat is intensely aerobic and is my favorite class - at least this week.) The head instructor also gave me advice on what to work on to be able to instruct a Les Mill class. From now on I will be listening for the shifts on the 32 beat frame work and the calling of the action from the instructors. Just another challenge, but challenge is what life is about. |
