| I had a Hamilton Beach 14 cup food processor up until this afternoon, when we had a slight altercation. The food processor lost. I hated that thing, so I'm not really sad that he's sitting in a plastic bag in a bunch of pieces. Anyways, now I need a new one. As much as I'd love to buy a nice Quisinart or KitchenAid, right now that is simply not in my budget. I'll keep dreaming for now. Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent one? Or what about a stick blender? Would that work for making mashed cauliflower? I mainly use it for making fauxtatoes and pureeing tomatoes, so if I could get away with a stick blender, then I'd go with that. Then I could also throw away my blender that is also a piece of crap, since I could use that to make smoothies! :D I'd love some input! TIA |

| If your blender works at all, you should be able to use it for the fauxtatoes and tomatoes. I used to use mine to make hummus before I got my Cuisinart. Hummus is way thicker than either of those things and I have a really cheap blender...like $17 from Target or something. |

I have a Cuisinart that's probably 20 years old and still works perfectly. My sister in law gave it to me when she upgraded...lucky me. Have you looked on ebay? I'm sure lots of people buy one, sit it on the counter, and never use it.
Good luck :D |

My blender leaks, so I've never really used it for much of anything. I tried margaritas, it leaked really bad, so in the cabinet it went.
I'll have to check on ebay. My mom has a Quisinart and I love it, but I also know much it cost. Maybe I can score a deal somewhere. |

| Nooooooooo.... I was trying to clean it because it gets all this nasty gunk stuck in all the hidden nooks and crannies, and then a piece of it busted. So then we had our altercation, and he's now in quite a few pieces. :D |

Lol, thats exactly what I was thinking! LOL and I've had altercations liek that before.
I am throwing blender away for the same reason. Leaking.
I tried to make mashed cauliflower with my blender but it was really lumpy didnt make it very creamy I guess, I've had them before at a friends and they were more of a mashed tater consistency, or maybe she added stuff into , I dont know.. |

Another item to consider (although I think it costs around $50) is a magic bullet. You know, the one from the infomercial! I got one for xmas and love it! Its easy to clean - everything goes straight into the dishwasher. And it chops about as good as my blender did - not perfect but as good. My husband uses it to make fruit smoothies everyday.
Geez - I sound like a commercial.... |

| The Bullet dealie works good for small jobs. But just for fauxtatoes and pureed tomatoes, a stick blender works just fine. |

| lol boxergurl..I feel like doing the same thing to my computer a lot of days. Anyway, you may even want to check out garage sales or thrifties. There are probably a lot of kitchen gadget junkies out there like me and are looking to get rid of old (but barely used) things. |
