I was just curious if anyone here with IBS had any problems going on the SBD? Both sides, meaning constipation and diarrhea.

Thanks Nessa for your response. I haven't started the SBD yet..but I am planning to start on Sunday and just wanted some information. I was digging around in old posts about IBS and saw that it was about 50/50. Hopefully I will fall into the lucky category and have my symptoms get better rather than worse. Mine is more diarrhea than constipation..sorry if that is TMI.

I guess I will just start on Sunday like planned and if in a few days to a week I am feeling crappy (no pun intended) I will just go see the doc. Thanks!

Hello!

When I first started SB back in February, around my third day, I had my usual cramps and diarrhea combo. After that, I never had it again. It was almost like being cured. Now, the only time I have any flare-ups is when I eat very poorly.

I hope the same applies to you. Good luck!

I do have some IBS issues and have to admit since starting SB I feel better. Sometimes a bit constipated but other than that...having been having an increase in symptoms.

My husband has Chron's -- similar to IBS. I think you may find cutting back on grains will reduce the symptoms of IBS. I also have found that people with intestinal difficulties do much better with full-fat dairy products and soaked grains. I also recommend taking a probiotic. My husband drinks kefir daily. You can also buy a probiotic supplement. HTH

My quick warning for IBS sufferers--

About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with IBS, was put on meds (Miralax). Every few months I'd have intense pain and I'd go to the doctor just to be told that I'd have to deal with it. Colonoscopy's showed nothing and blood work showed normal levels on everything.

Welpers, in April I had such a bad attack, I thought I was dying. Went to a doctor who did blood tests(again normal) but ALSO did an ultrasound. Turns out I had gallstones. After having my gallbladder out (May 30), my surgeon said the stones were so large that he assumes they were there "at least a few years". Since then, my IBS symptoms have completely disappeared.

WARNING TMI AHEAD!

Before starting sb I had severe IBS a combo of constipation followed by intense diarreah. (yes weird sometimes it would be in the same bathroom trip never mind day) After SB I no longer had diarreah, just constipation. To solve this I added 4 tsp benefiber 2 xs a day that worked for a week. now I eat att least 8 tablespoons of flax meal per day on top of the regular SB diet. I drink a minimum of 80 oz of h2o a day. I alternate the benefiber every other week to help prevent me from getting used to it so far this has helped ALOT!!!

I have been diagnosed with IBS since the age of 17, even was on a anti-spasmodic for it. The last few years, exercise has really helped. Then last month I started SB. At first, things were a little inconsistent, but nothing painful. Now I am in ph II and things are better, very few symptoms if any at all. Good luck!

My IBS acted up allot when i had a gallbladder. since it has been removed i dont have near the flare ups . But it did still flare up. Now that I am doing the SBD , I dont have any flare ups or havent in a very long time. I also have hypothyroid, which means constipation is a issue for me as well. I still have diarrhea and constipation but most can be controlled my diet.
