Can't decide on target weight

I am 34/m, 5'11". I was 202 at my heaviest 3 years ago. I stared SB 5 weeks ago at 173.8, and now I'm 159.8. My goal was 160, but I still feel that I want to lose more.

I think people are amazed at how low a healthy weight is when I tell them. According to the SB website, someone my age and height should be 133-179. 133 seems unusually light to me, especially for a male, most women would kill to be that weight.

Is that just a general healthy range, or is there a way to dedtermine a more precise weight that I should be, that seems like an awful large weight range.

I'm thinking now that I'm under 160 that I can try for 150, but just hearing that number sounds really light to me. Like I said, I think we are just programmed to accept 200 as a normal weight, when we know it's extremely overweight. Anyone have any thoughts or a similar issue?

When I searched online for my goal weight, I found all kinds of crazy ranges, none of which seemed to agree. So I asked my doctor, and she gave me the proper range for my height (145-165). So that's how I decided to shoot for 145. You might want to talk to your doctor and see what he/she thinks is best for your height, build etc. Hope this helps!

if you have reached your previous goal and still feel there is room to lose, keep going. your body will let you know when it is at its ideal range.

i wouldn't put too much stock in the healthy weight ranges given online and by calculating BMI. BMI does not take muscle mass into account. As a female at 5'2", i could get down to 105 and still be in the "healthy" BMI range. i know from experience that if i get any lower than 125, i start to feel sickly and weak. my body has too much muscle on it to ever safely get to 105. just listen to what your body is telling you, continue to eat right and exercise, and you will find your "magic number".
