Day 4 of Phase 1
Everything is going great except for the late evenings. I don't feel hungry at all during the day but about 8pm I am suddenly very hungry. Any suggestions?

There was an interesting article that I read somewhere about night-time eaters and how it actually is a biological "addiction", i.e., your body chemistry is a little different at night based on your circadian rhythms, causing you to "feel hungry" at night.

However, try eating a cup of nonfat plain yogurt with splenda -- that should hold you over and fill you up.

I was really hungry for the first five days as well at night. So I would wait unitl 9:00 to eat my dessert. You might want to have some jello too if that will help. Also, when you get up in the morning, drink the tomato juice right away and this will curb your appetite until you eat breakfast. If you can eat your breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up, that is supposed to help.

The hunger pains will subside once your body gets used to not having carbs and sugar. I am not hungry at all anymore at night or in the morning and I don't even need to have my snack in the morning so it does get better.

Don't give up and take it one day at a time.

Lizze, Thanks for the advice. I was hoping that this would pass. Like I said the rest of the day I am fine. I did have my tomato juice early this morning, then exercised. After, I had breakfast and so far so good. I still have a few headaches.

Late night snacking has always been my downfall. I'm not hungry after dinner (we eat late around 7-7:30 usually), so I save my desert until later. Probably not the best, but even 6 weeks into this I need my late night snack. Most of the time it is 1 of the no-sugar added fudgsicles, but it might be the pudding or one of the ricotta creme thingies. Really doesn't matter as long as its something!

We recently tried the Blue Bunny Health SmartŪ Fudge & Vanilla Fudge Bars. http://www.bluebunny.com/products/detail.cfm?cat=Novelties&subcat=Health%20Smart

60 calories for 1 bar instead of 45 for 1 fudgsicle, but it is a bigger bar. The all fudge one is OK, the vanilla/fudge mix was so-so. Anyone else try these yet?

Hi Red ~ I had that too when I first started, but if you eat every 2-3 hours, you should notice that start to disappear. I eat from the time I get up till I go to bed! But its all the right foods and the weight is coming off. Last night about an hour after my 8:00 ricotta creme I was feeling like I hadnt eaten since 5, so I grabbed a couple of teaspoons of smuckers chunky natural peanut butter and felt great. Sometimes your body needs alittle extra.

well 2-3 hours after dinner for us is 9:30 tp 10:30 anyway. I see no problem eating my dessert at that point instead of immediately after dinner when I am not hungry anyway. The late night eating desire does not "go away". But I am just indulging it with something healthier and allowable instead of a bucket o' ice cream and a spoon!

The dessert is specifically designed to help us through that evening snacking time, so don't eat it with dinner. Fill up on more veggies at dinner, then eat your planned dessert during that dangerous time when you get hungry watching TV.

Doing this also helps stabilize your blood sugar through to the next morning, if you eat the ricotta creme.

I have always been a late night eater ...I have insomnia so I get bored. I took my pals advice and tried tea and it works! I buy a really fruity tea...Starbucks Tazo Passionberry Rocks...and sweetin it with splenda. I am telling you it cures the sweet tooth but for some reason the hot tea make you really, really full as well ..plus you can have as much as you want. I know it sounds silly, but give it a whirl..it has been my cure all!
