Will it be enough?

I have about 14 more lbs to lose to get to my weight goal of being 120lbs. So I'm 134 now. I look at my stomach and think that there's no WAY that 14lbs is going to take care of all of that! My weight is pretty well concentrated in my stomach and my neck (unfortunately, I have no butt - wish I could have just told my fat where to go).

When you're getting down to the final pounds, do you discover that you seem to really "slender up" at the end, or am I being optimistic that 120lbs will be my ideal weight? I'm 5'3" and quite muscular for not working out, so I've always carried my weight pretty well.

I was very sick with a stomach ailment about 10 years ago, and I went from a size 12 to a size 4 in a year (I couldn't eat without nauseau). I was TOO thin, then, and without clothes, it did look like there was something wrong with me. Unfortunately, I felt so sick all the time that I didn't consider that weight loss a victory, and I never WEIGHED myself, so I have no idea where I was then! But then I had my gall bladder removed, and I was so happy to be able to eat again that I went right back up the size ladder.

Any thoughts?

THANKS!

Michele, I have the same prob. I'm very thick around the middle but have small butt and hips. As of Aug 1, 2006 I went from a 199# to this morning weighing 134, I am 5' 4'. I would like to get to 128 or 129, but I'm thinking the same thing another 5 or 6 pounds isn't going to go all in the stomach area. Then again, I think what I have there is a lot of lose skin that I may never lose, the same goes for the skin under the arms. I have been trying to get in some exercise, but I'm to the point that I don't think I'm ever going to get those areas firm. I can hide it well in clothes, but when I look in the mirror out of them...it's ICK!

If your interested I just posted another pic in the before and after section, just look for maria38 as the author, It's within the first 10 posts...let me know what you think...thanks!

It doesn't matter what number you pick for a goal. As long as you keep exercising and eating well your body will decide where it wants to settle. If you're not happy at that point, then you need to decide how far you are willing to go to make your body go where it doesn't want to go -- at least not easily. That means tweaking food and exercise until you get where you want to be.

Ditto OldPJams (by the way - love the avatar. We saw the Simpsons movie preview the other day and its starting to look like it has lots of potential....)

Mmartglass - my advice is to not worry about it too much now. Focus on reaching your initial goal (you're going to have to get there first before you can go lower anyway) and once you're there, reassess. My first time around on SB, I got down to 126 which I thought would have me plenty tiny but once there, I realized I could easily drop another 5-10 pounds without being too skinny and without pushing my body beyond what was right for it (don't get me wrong though - I was enjoying the 126 plenty!). I proceeded to regain a few pounds and now I'm on my way back down. This time I'm shooting for 120 and once there I'll decide if going lower is a good idea. But - I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I've been thinking the same thing..5'3"' here, 135 to 136 lbs depending on the day..and my original goal was 135. I've come down from 154lbs. Am I slim? Yes and no..my legs and arms are. My hips are. My face is. My midsection? Not so much. I've been pretty stalled since the end of March, first of April 'tho, so am just riding with it for now. Eventually I'll start to lose again, cuz I am still very much on the Beach. I'm thinking at least another 5 or 10 lbs.
