I lost approximately 4-5 pounds on P1 (I didn't weigh myself before I started, but I had a general idea from a recent weigh-in.) Yesterday I started P2 (thank goodness...was getting tired of eating the same things all the time). I'm feeling really down in the dumps today, because I saw pictures of myself from my son's birthday party last Saturday. I was bent over in odd positions in all the pictures, and I looked like I weighed 20 pounds more than I do. Honestly, they were the worst pictures I've seen of myself in a long time.
Needless to say, those pictures really threw me a curve ball because I was thinking that I looked so much trimmer over the past few weeks. :( My motivation is shot to heck at the moment, and I've seriously thought about switching to a low-fat diet a couple of times in the last few hours. I guess the reason for that is because that's how I've always lost weight in the past -- I lost 30 pounds and stayed at 105-110 pounds for at least 10 years by limiting my fat intake, eating vegetables w/ rice or pasta, and limiting my meat intake to nearly nothing. It's easy to see why this diet is messing with my head, I guess, isn't it? I keep expecting to GAIN weight...to the point where I haven't weighed myself in over a week because I'm afraid to see the number! UGH... Anyway, here's my menu from yesterday:
Breakfast: Omelet (1/2 c. Egg Beaters, 1 slice reduced fat cheese, chopped spinach), 1 turkey sausage link, V8
Snack: string cheese and 1/4 c. blueberries
Lunch: Salad with a can of tuna, dressing (1 Tbsp. oil, 1 pressed garlic clove, 1/2 squeezed lemon), 1 slice whole-wheat bread, SF jello
Snack: 2 Tbsp. pb, cup of tea with fat-free half-and-half and Splenda
Snack: raw green pepper slices
Dinner: Chicken parmesan (chicken breast sprinkled with Paul Prudhomme's poultry magic, covered with chopped tomatoes, and sprinkled with part-skim mozzarella cheese), steamed broccoli, glass of red wine
Dessert: riccota cream
Today's menu (keeping in mind I was unmotivated and thus very hungry):
Breakfast: Omelet (1/2 c. Egg Beaters, slice reduced-fat cheese, chopped broccoli), one slice Canadian bacon, V8
Snack: 1/4 c. blueberries, string cheese
Snack: raw carrots (these are allowed on P2, right?)
Snack (because I couldn't have lunch until 3 p.m.!!!): 3 oz. lowfat, sugar-free yogurt w/ Splenda
Lunch: Taco salad (taco-seasoned 93% lean ground beef, salsa, and 1 Tbsp. Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing on tossed salad), 2 Tbsp. pb, 1/2 slice whole-wheat bread (I was starving--can you tell??)
Dinner: 4 small crepes (made with part-skim ricotta and a mixture of egg/Egg Beaters) w/ sugar-free syrup, one link chicken sausage, steamed broccoli
I will probably drown my sorrows in a sf fudgicle in a little while.
Am I eating too much???? (Don't judge by today's menu -- yesterday was more like what I usually eat!) Thanks for any input! |

Actually I have found that the more I end up eating on this diet
the better I seem to do. Crazy stuff I know.
Your menu sounds very yummy!
You've even given me a couple of good ideas to try myself! :D

| Thanks! You made me feel a little better. :) I also want to put a plug in for my chicken parmesan, if that's one of the ideas you saw -- it was really delicious! I think the Poultry Magic really made a difference. I didn't miss the bread crumbs at all! (I seared the breasts in a frying pan until they were half-done, then I added the toppings and baked them at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes more.) |

Weighed myself this morning after one week, and I'm down 2 more pounds! Yaay! That cheered me up a bit. I guess I'm not eating too much after all.
So far today:
Breakfast: 1 Van's Carb Manager Flax and Omega-3 waffle (really good!) w/ sugar-free syrup, 2 veggie quiche cups, 1 slice Canadian bacon, coffee. I'll have the V8 in a little while.
Planned snack: String cheese, water.
Planned lunch: Salad w/ turkey breast, possibly fudgicle or the rest of the sf jello.
Planned snack: 4 oz. sugar-free lowfat yogurt with 1/4 c. blueberries or strawberries.
Planned dinner: steak, roasted asparagus, mashed cauliflower, big ol' glass of red wine (it's Survivor and Friends night -- woohoo!!!), maybe my ricotta cream later, if I'm still hungry. |

You sound just like I felt yesterday. Was ready to give up on SBD and try living on Lean Cuisines. Very slow going for me but am trying to stick with it. Yesterday I was starving ( yeah, right) and went down to our lobby at work to get a whole wheat bagel with low-fat cream cheese - I'm in Phase 2 so that is allowed but not for a snack! Anyway, they were all out of whole wheat and I couldn't bring myself to eat a regular bagel. So I guess my mindset is already changing. And I guess God was trying to help me by saying "DO NOT PUT THAT BAGEL IN YOUR BELLY!!"
Good luck and Happy Losing! |

Just got back from a long weekend with some friends. I definitely was not on the diet, but I didn't go totally overboard, either. I'm doing P1 for the next few days to get back on track. Will probably be back to P2 at the end of this week.
So far today (my stomach is really repaying me for the crap I had over the weekend...yeeeeooooouuuuuccccchhhh!!!!):
Breakfast: 2 sticks of string cheese, V8
Snack: 1 1/2 Tbsp. pb
Lunch: Egg beater omelet with roasted asparagus and cauliflower, one slice 2% cheese
Snack: Ricotta cream (too much cheese today, I know)
Planned dinner: crustless pizza, salad
Dessert: possibly Jello; possibly nothing |

I guess my weekend of being off the diet didn't result in any returned carb cravings. I really don't notice a difference, and I'm actually happy to be back on the diet! Weird, but I was sort of disappointed that I wouldn't be able to stick to the diet more over the weekend. I'm relieved to be back on track now!
Breakfast: Egg Beater omelet with sliced tomato and fat-free feta, 2 links turkey breakfast sausage, coffee w/ fat-free half-and-half
Snack: string cheese
Lunch: Leftover crustless pizza from last night, nsa fudgicle (UGH...the Fudgsicle brand is really gross! I liked the Hood brand much better!)
Snack: 15 cashews
Snack: 2 cinnamon flaxseed muffins
Dinner: Leftover crustless pizza again, and probably some salad (I'm getting a cold and don't feel like making anything today)
Dessert: Jello? Maybe nothing. |

I had a great time, thanks! And thanks for the reply -- I definitely appreciate the encouragement! :)
I had waaaayyyy too much sf Jello last night while watching t.v. OMG, I think I had the equivalent of an entire package! Calorie-wise, it's not a big deal, really, but still!!! So much for the 75-cal/day limit, huh? I have a cold and my throat is so scratchy...it just felt good on my throat, I guess. (Note to self: Eating out of the serving bowl while watching t.v. is NOT a good idea. )
Breakfast: Egg Beater omelet with sauteed zucchini and one slice 2% cheese; flaxseed muffin
(To be continued...) |

Snack: another flaxseed muffin (they're pretty good!) and approx. 1 Tbsp. pb
Lunch: Salad with can of tuna; fudgicle (I can't wait until these are gone so I can buy the good ones...nothing like forcing yourself to eat something to get rid of it!) |
