I am looking for inputs from people who have successfully completed the 5K program. I am on my 4th week and I find it real tough, even though I did finish 2 workout so far this week. I find I had to slow down on my walk just to recover. The last 5 min had me puffing very hard. Here are my speed. Does it get any easier or does it get harder?

1st set
3min jog 4.8 mph
1.5min walk 3.2 mph
5min job 4.8 mph
2.5min walk 3.2mph

2nd set
3min jog 4.8 mph
1.5min walk 3 mph
5min jog 4.6 mph (had to slow down).

Welcome Canadianexpress !

come on over to the C25k thread there are some great people over there. Dark Chocolate has completed a 5k race and Backhoegirl has completed the program and is moving on but both have great input on what it was like.
You don't have to read from the beginning :) In fact I read what I posted and things certainly changed since then - I got a second job, quit running and had to start from scratch again.

Maltby_gardner will be a great one to "chat" w/ she is experiencing some of the same things you are.

Yes it does get easier. I had my first run yesterday where I didn't feel like I was going to die, had energy after and didn't hurt today. AND we managed 5K in about 32 minutes :D this program really does work!

Come on over and join us!

Oh my goodness does it get easier :!:

I started the Couch to 5k program mid Feb with id say an almost 0 fitness level. I dont remember my exact numbers but I think i walked at about 2.8 and jogged at 5.0

I remember at about week 5/6 there were times i had to slow it down to like 4.2 for a bit to be able to jog the whole thing. But I completed it mid April and was fortunate enough to not have to repeat any weeks.

As I said I started with 0 fitness and barely able to jog the 60 seconds...last week i ran 11.1 miles total with a 4 mile run that took me 46:36 (i ran the whole time and honestly its my legs that complain more than my cardio now)

I do HIGHLY reccomend getting outdoors if you can. I did the whole C25k program on the treadmill then branched out to the streets. my fitness has vastly improved since and also my desire to do it, the treadmill got a tad boring! Come visit us in the Couch to 5k thread any time and all the time!!

YOU CAN DO IT!
