Hi. I have belonged to Curves for a while now, but never go that often. I will go 3 or 4 times, then stop for a month or so. Quite ineffective!

I just get bored at Curves. Anyone else belong to Curves? Anyone have any "tricks" to keep their routines interesting?

I've never used curves, but a friend and her fifteen year old daughter love it! I don't know if all locations are the same, but at theirs everyone does the same routine, switching machines every fifteen minutes at the sound of a whistle. They also have different dress days, such as hawaii, tye die, etc. Therefore they find it very interesting and without lack of motivation.
I wish you the best of luck on your exercise committment!

Xan: I belong to Curves and I also find it really boring. So much so, in fact, that I haven't been back in ages. I've been jogging and doing strength training on my own.

I think it depends on the Curves location. The owner of mine is not that into it and she hires local HS girls to work there. Other locations the owners are really involved and passionate so I think it makes the atmosphere more fun and motivating.

Where in CA are you?

Ah, yes! The owner of our Curves also hires local HS girls. I am up by San Francisco.

I find the sound tracks way, way dull, too.

I joined Curves and have been a total of 10 times in the last 2 months. I am trying to pick up the pace. I have lost 4.75 inches total but did not accomplish this until I started SB as well.

The owner of our Curves has all kinds of activities. They are playing BINGO now and have started some type of summer camp program. Evidentally you sign up for a cabin and have cabin mates? Not sure of the details...looks cute though. The place in decorated in the camp theme.

I just need a kick in the pants to get me going

I did make it today. I am striving for 3 days a week.

I've known several folks that started at that place, loved it, then ultimately stopped going out of boredom. Personally I think it might be more fun to choose what I wanted to do rather than go around the perscribed circuit.
Also - i don't want to get into it here since its not the right place - and my apologies if you already know about this but fyi curves had/has some political views that you may or may not like to know about as an informed consumer...google it for more info.
Anyway, that's just my 2 cents! Any exercise is good exercise as long as you stick with it!!

it's funny you guys should say this. I went for a couple of trail workouts about 5 months ago, and after the second time, the lady asked if I thought I'd be in to sign up. I told her no because I knew the same routine and not having the choice in what I didreally wouldn't keep me motivated. I also didn't find the routine overly challenging. She told me that she had heard the same thing from a lot of women under 40, that they were looking for more of a burn and challenge than Curves provides.
