| I was going to give her a little more time. What do you think is the latest we should wait before we replace her? I did a search and she hasn't posted on the boards since May 23. I sent her a PM and she's the only one who hasn't responded. Everyone else has checked in. Yeah!!! Thoughts A-Rod? |

well, the other vicki brought it to my attention that some people expressed interest in the challenge in the original thread where we were discussing ideas for format. they didn't officially sign up, but i think some people may have forgotten to check ... incase they are interested, i sent those folks PMs to see if they want to join.
ultimately, since we start monday we need to have teams set by sunday. so if we dont' hear from folks by sunday evening, i don't know! i suppose we can play it by ear for the first day or so if we don't have an even number of people on each team, but if we do have even teams by sunday night, i'll be inclined to close things up. |

I think that if people haven't checked in by Sunday afternoon--they're really not interested in the challenge. Good grief, they'd be starting the next day so you'd think they'd have signed on to the boards to see what's up! In all fairness to the people waiting, I think Sunday by 3PM is the latest I'd wait. Next time, it can be put in the rules that people who have said they want to join, must check in to the thread by say in this case, June 2 or their places will be given to people who have expressed interest after the closing of the challenge.
We can always let the people in who are waiting (I hate to turn away anyone trying to better themselves) and if the teams are uneven--the teams with the extra person can simply add up all their team points for the week, divide by the number on the team, and then subtract that number to make it equal to one less team member. I'd be happy to do the extra math and let someone in on my team that wants in. |

i, too, considered using averages. my hangup was that it makes it "worth less" for you to do extra if it's divided by 10 people ... we'll see how things pan out over the weekend - i'm sure we can recruit a few extra folks at the last minute if need be.
this is why team challenges are a pain to administer at first! ;)
thanks for all your input so far, vicki ... helps a lot to keep my head on straight. |

Hope everyone's having a good weekend. The party before the knuckle-down, right?
I'm walking UPHILL to church this evening and downhill home afterwards. A little hour and a half training for beginning next week. Also got a walk in yesterday, too. Good thing I live in a valley -- pretty much any way I go is up!
Hey any ideas yet on the extra goals?
See everybody on Monday mornin'! |

Sej where are you?
It's happening tomorrow, are you all ready? I have my goals posted as well as Jabbah. Let's all get our three goals posted ASAP--tomorrow at the latest. Take today to really plan your week and have a firm idea of what you're going to do exercise wise and what you're going to eat. Go shopping if you need to and stock your kitchen with SB friendly foods and snacks to make it easy for yourself. I went to Costco yesterday and bought pork tenderloins, halibut, chicken, deli turkey slices, eggs, asparagus, romaine lettuce, fresh mix of stir fry asian veggies (looks really good--new I think), ww bread, etc. I'm pretty set for the week. Tonight we're having family over and we're going to barbecue an extra tenderloin, I'm making a large batch of UB rice, and cooking the huge bag of fresh oriental veggies so I'll have leftovers for several lunches for work. I tried the flaxmeal pancakes yesterday and they weren't bad so I'm going to make up a few batches today so I just have to heat them up for breakfast, dip em in SF maple syrup and breakfast is done. I'm also going to hardboil some eggs for breakfast or to use on salads. I'm trying to make eating a no brainer so I can focus on the exercise part. That will be the more difficult part.
Tomorrow I plan a session on the elliptical and a strength training session--upper body only and crunches. I work 5AM-2PM so am going to do that pretty much within a half an hour of getting home from work. When my husband gets home and if he feels like it--I plan to do a circuit of hiking on the ridge next to our house (dedicated open space)--we have set courses depending on our fitness level and right now after not exercising for quite awhile, I'll have to start at the bottom.
What are all of your plans to getting started? Planning is key for me--it really helps me a lot. With a plan in place--I don't let my head talk me out of working my plan. I just start doing it without too much thinking and before you know it--it's done!
Go team!!! |

Is everybody ready? Tomorrow is the big kick-off! Hey, did anyone come up with a name for our team? Any ideas?
Here are my Week 1 Goals:
1) Plan menu and workout schedule for the week
2) at-home circuit training 4 days (in addition to gym time)
3) one 5-mile run
I'm going to get off the computer and go work on goal #1 so that I won't have to THINK, just DO! |

OK. I re-read the rulesand am all set to knock out 1 cardio and 1 strength tomorrow. Let's all start off with a bang!
For this week my 3 personal goals are:
1). Make a menu for the week
2). Get through 100% of the strength exercises suggested for me on sparkpeople at least one time. (I've been doing 75%)
3). No sf chocolate this week (oh, what have I done?)
I agree with you on the planning, mongolia. I'm that way, too. BTW, what is circuit training exactly?
Looking forward to it, ladies! (we are all ladies, right? ) |

Okay, I'm as ready as I ever will be! my goals for this week are:
1. No beer or wine M-F.
2. Make a cardio plan and chart for the week.
3. No more than 2 grain servings per day.
I'll be honest with you all I'm kind of intimidated by the cardio requirement. I am such a slacker when it comes to that. I guess I'm going to have to figure out something I like to do and am willing to do and just do it. My problem is the only thing I am really willing to do right now is walk and I don't like to walk around where I live. I guess I could go to the mall but that is 30 minutes away and with the price of gas... Okay I caught myself making excuses. I'll stop now. I guess I could do the Biggest Loser dvd I have. I like the strength training part of it but like I said I'm not to into the cardio thing. :x I just have to make myself!!!!!! As you can see I am trying to syke myself up!
As for a team name I have no idea. Someone better start suggesting something! :) |

Okay here I am ready to rock and roll!
My goals for this week are:
1) To NOT have one of those tempting chocolate bars they are selling at work.
2) To eat lots of veggies with dinner (I don't usually get enough)
3) To make my own lunch every day this week.
I'm not too worried about getting in the cardio work for the week since I ride horses about 3 times a week and walk my dog nearly every day. It the weigh work thats going to cause my trouble but I'm gonna do it! |

Goals for week one:
1) Track food eaten
2) Track water consumed
3)Chart workouts
I've never charted/tracked anything but weight loss!
I'm also going to keep tabs on measurements in addition to the scale. Sometimes the tape measure moves more for me than the scale does :o
GO TEAM! :D :D :D |

| Okay since no one has suggested any team names these are the only two I could come up with right off: The Muscle Beach Team (or Crew) or the Shapeshifters. |
