You are right LegalBeagle - absolutely right. The problem here is that we have a very small military community and I think they are probably worried about losing a leader as they appear to be in short supply. They are not going to do anything about this. Oh, and after the email about not giving my DD her patch the next one stated that she would have to check the rules to see if she could give it to her and then 2 paragraphs later she said 'of course' she would. Yeah. We'll see.
I received another email from her tonight which I did not read and sent back to her telling her so and asking her to stop sending emails. Then I set my email to send any message from her straight to the trash. Can we say 'SERIOUS ISSUES'.
I really don't think I am going to get anywhere with this - no matter what I do.
I have spoken with my DD about not doing girl scouts next year. I have also talked to the lady I lead Boy Scouts with and she has agreed that while DD cannot officially be a boy scout, she can come to the meetings and participate if I am there (which I always am). I am going to get her a red vest like her brothers and buy her the same patches as him when she earns them. She seemed really happy with that, thank goodness. |

Me too Nessa. Looking at the bigger picture though, this is really small fry and that woman is nothing but a minor bug bite. It's truly pathetic and a very sad reflection on Girl Scouts.
I am working hard on rising above it! |

| No, it's a sad reflection on HER. She is NOT following the GS rules, so please don't judge GS by her. GS is a WONDERFUL program for young ladies. |

| Sorry LB - you are right. I am having a hard time stomaching the lack of support from the regional leader but I will get over it. In the meantime, I can channel my energies into having the best boy scout den in our pack this year! |

I had heard that boy scouts IS doing more of a "family" scouts sort of thing. I personally think that is a WONDERFUL idea!
Sorry about the conflict. I tend to be the negotiator between the leaders and parents in our troop  .
(oh, I'd go down to your girl scout office and BUY your dd the darn badge!!!)

FYI, I was also a girl scout leader for 5 years, myself. You can go to the girl scout council shop (or order online or call them) and buy the patch. They're only about a dollar or so. You dont' have to be a leader to buy stuff there. I know it's not the resolution you wanted, but your daughter would have the patch and you wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. Man, what a freakish leader. I can't imagine.

Thanks LisaB. I am indeed going to buy my daughter a few patches for her uniform because this leader not only has not sent the patch in question, but she has also not sent all the patches my daughter earned for the last half of the year. Yup! And apparently I am the evil one and the one in the wrong!?
Karma. It will come around and bite her on the butt, I am sure. Please God, let me have a ringside seat for that one! |
