I started this thread after reading the Hypothyroid Hassles thread since that one was a few weeks old.
I also have been having the worst time trying to lose weight. So the last few days I have been scouring the web trying to educate myself. I have learned more in two days than any doctor has ever told me in 16 years.
I had never asked to see my lab results, I always trusted the doctor. Even though I still felt like crud. I never knew there was a medication alternative that many hypothyroid suffers have been having success with until I read about.com. I feel like I have wasted years being fat and not being able to lose weight and thinking I was crazy!
I am making an appt this week to get switched to Armour. Has anyone here had success with it? Please give me some hope!
I had lost a bunch of weight as the result of a very physical job. I lost my job in October and I gained back 47 lbs. I didn't start pigging out. I just stopped exercising. I did cut my calories somewhat but apparently not enough!
Oh and I also wanted to let everyone know that antidepressants make a lot of people FAT! I was taking Lexapro thinking it was one of the ones that didn't make you gain weight and then my doctor let it slip out that that probably wasn't helping my weight gain! So I did some research on http://Rxlist.com and sure enough it's side effect is weight gain (along with Paxal, Zoloft, Effexor, and almost all the others. The only one I have found that doesn't is Wellbutrin and not all people can handle it) I'm glad I was alreadiy taking that one!I stopped the Lexapro. But even with antidepressants I am still fatigued and cannot lose.
My doctor is a very good listener and really likes to hear patient input but I just never knew what to ask him. I am so upset that I have wasted all this time not knowing what was going on with my health. But I am so glad I found this site and this thread.
I hope everyone is doing well on their plan. I start tomorrow. |
