momof2princes

Just a quick introduction. I am a 31 year old teacher who has struggled with weight all of my life (unlike my skinny sisters). I am hoping to lose 60 lbs and keep it off for one. i have been a yo-yo dieter for the past 5-6 years. i actually reached my goal once and then gained all the weight back plus 30 more pounds. From this forum, it sounds as though this may be the diet for me.

I look forward to starting tomorrow (my husband has been doing the diet for 1 week and has lost 8 lbs...my inspiration :) )

I would love advice from people in my similar situation.

Thanks!

Kris

Hey Kris-you are looking good!! I am a teacher, too. What do you teach? I am in my 3rd week and feeling good despite the excessive stress of end of school stuff....beta club induction, statewide testing, wild kids, and graduate school on top of it as well as daughter's showchoir performance this weekend and nightly rehearsals....Keep up the good work!
See ya on zee beach!

Cuppacoffey-

Thanks for the encouragement! I definitely understand the stress, I teach special education in a private schoo. So we are going through the end of the year IEPs, PPTs, and progress reports.

Good luck with graduate school, I am almost done. (Just need to finish my thesis)

I'm also lucky that my DH decided to do the SBD with me as well!
It sure makes it easier when you have someone to do it with.
I look forward to seeing what works for you. If you find any good recipies
please be sure to post them and share them with the rest of us. :)

I'm glad you decided to join us here at the beach!

Day two down. I felt real good today, not hungry at all ( which surprised me). My husband even said that I had alot more energy. I'm not sure how much I have lost I want to wait the full week.

Breakfast: two eggs with peppers, onions and ham
v* juice (still UGH!)

Snack: reduced fat cheese

Lunch: turkey with green beans (much better than a big salad)

Snack: 30 pistachios ( I live for these!)

Dinner: We went out to dinner, I had baked ham. The vegetable choices were cole sloaw, carrots, or beets (which I do not like. ) So I made the good chice and ordered a salad.

DAY THREE, HERE I COME!!

I made it through an entire week and I lost 5 1/2 lbs. I am so excited!! This is the longest that I have stuck to any diet in about 7 or 8 years. I love this diet because I don't feel hungry. (This is great coming from a huge skeptic of the diet) I am now recommending to all of my friends and family.

Yesterday's menu:

Breakfast:
eggs with peppers, onions, and ham
AM Snack: didn't have a snack b/c I was at a funeral
Lunch: Chicken marsala with a garden salad
Snack: 30 pistachios (Mmm)
Dinner: Marinated london broil and asparagus

I'm so glad to hear you're liking the diet. :) I love it, too! Congrats on your loss so far!

Just a quick question: How did you make the chicken marsala? I really miss my husband's chicken marsala (he makes the absolute BEST!), but I thought we weren't supposed to have marsala wine...??? (Please tell me I'm wrong!)

CONGRATULATIONS!! Your menus look great. Just picked up the cookbook last night and there are some fantastic recipes in there. May give you more options for lunch other than salad-there are days when I want a hot lunch. what is it about that? My husband is also on the diet w/ me (or am I with him? :D ) and it really makes things easier and plus, it's nice to share the experience. I'm on day 5 of P2 and will be here for awhile. My weightloss has stalled and not as gung ho as I was on P1. Coming here and reading about other's successes like yours really helps, so thanks.

Three weeks down and I lost 4 more pounds. (For a total of 14). :D I am planning to start P2 ( I stayed on P1 for three weeks) today but I am extremely nervous. I did well on P1, will this ruin it all. AARRGGHH!!
I know I have to reintroduce carbs but I want to do it slowly.

Here is my plan:

Breakfast: Cereal and mil with a harb boiled egg/

Snack: 30 pistachios

Lunch: Chili with a small salad

Snack: Apples with peanut butter

Dinner: ?? chicken with a vegetable

My concern is then I need to wait a week to find out if it is working or not. ( My weight fluctates so much day to day, I don't want to weigh myself daily.) I will definitely keep my fingers crossed.

Well, have a great week and keep smiling.

We stayed on ph1 for 3 weeks also (my hubby stayed on 4) After the 3 weeks I just slowly started reintroducing things back into my diet. Like for breakfast, I really don't like eggs too much, but I found they are easier to eat if I scramble them, top them with cheese and put them on 1 slice of ww toast (cut in half) with a small dab of honey on one side. That was how I introduced bread, and I have been eating it for breakfast every day and still am slowly losing. As for fruit, I started with fresh strawberries, I sliced them and had some with lunch every day for a week, now this week it is fresh pears. I make sure to have a cheese stick after my fruit to help slow the sugar in my system (I think I read that somewhere on here) Anyway, good luck with ph2!

I am so proud of myself!! I am currently making oatmeal raisin cookies for a family party (they are not the SBD friendly ones, I have been making this recipe for years and the family loves them)> I love to bake and one of my favorite past times when I am baking is to eat the cookie/cake batter (definitely not the healthiest thing to do). I was able to control myself and have not even had a taste!! (Wow...that's a huge step for me!!)

Now I am going to keep my fingers crossed that I can resist them at the party!

Hey Tigg! Great to know you are doing well so far. We all have our temptations that we have to get over. Like Kelsey said to me, if all else fails and that cookie calls to you real loud, just have ONE bite and leave it at that (and one bite is not the whole cookie in your mouth ... something I can see myself doing  )

Take Care Tigg & Good-Luck!
