saggy...

I guess this is a selfish fear, but I'm scared of what my body will look like once I reach my goal? Although I'd love to look like a naturally thin person, I know that won't happen after losing 100 pounds. I wont be able to afford surgery, and I know that no matter what it looks like, it will be better than what it is now, and most importantly, I'll be healthier. Has anyone experienced saggy skin? Does weight training help if its done while losing weight? (like in the arms and legs?)

My personal opinion (and this is from observation, not first hand experience) is that slow weight loss helps tremendously. I also think I'd take my chances on saggy skin versus 100 extra pounds. There have been some studies recently that have suggested that dairy helps skin retain its resiliency, but I am not sure how valid those are (and they were undoubtedly paid for by the dairy industry).

I've lost 55 pounds and I haven't had any problems with saggy skin...I exercise six days per week, so not sure if that's helping, but knock on wood...everything seems OK so far! :)

Age and genetics undoubtedly play some role in the way your skin responds to weight losst.

Sometimes what sags right after a loss tightens up eventually..or so says a friend of mine who lost 110lbs. Many areas have tightened up, and what remains isn't noticable..or not when she's dressed anyway. I wouldn't know undressed. She isn't a kid..over 50, but she does exercise 5 days a week and has all along.

I am sure I won't be wearing a bikini when I reach goal..but I didn't wear them before I hit the Beach either so why does that matter? I figure the sags (if any) don't show at all in clothes, and the fat did no matter how I dressed it. So I'm still better off.

Also, if you have medical insurance, don't be too sure it won't pay for some things. If for instance you are prone to yeast in folds, some insurance companies will pay for breast lifts and tummy tucks. Not all will, but some do I hear.

I have lost 65 pounds total..do I have saggy skin? YES. I notice under my arms are the worst , my stomach is very loose and my bust is very droopy (I wish I could afford a lift.) On the other hand the lower part of me..hips, butt and legs are pretty tight. In clothes I look pretty good, out of clothes..not good. But hey I don't plan on walking around naked, but I would like to look good in a tank top and right now I don't feel that good in one. I have started exercising the first of the year...not consistant though, but it has helped. If I had to do it over again I would have started exercising right from the start of SB, I think that would have really helped. So it is taking me longer to get everything tightened up, but I have faith that one day I will be able to wear that tank top and not have to worry about slapping someone in the face with the flags waving under my arms.

Also like msmarieh said I would be more worried about carrying around the extra 100 pounds than I would be the saggy skin.

My husband jokes with me about my belly being gone all the time. He liked jiggling it. I tell him "Well, I still have the bag it came in" Some things are just the way they are. I'm still pretty hot in clothes though.

I'm actually exceedingly worried about loose skin.

I've been a big girl ever since I can remember and I would LOVE to be able to at least once go clubbing in a skanky outfit. I mean, everyone else gets to, so why shouldn't I? I'd also like to be able to wear bikinis or tankinis since I've never been able to in my entire life.

Granted, I'm only 19 so I assume my skin will bounce back, but I'm still worried.

Even though I weighted 225, I was still comfortable walking around naked either by myself or with my boyfriend and plan on continuing that. I'm worried that the saggy skin will make me more self conscious than being overweight did!

I have gotten many compliments lately that I look younger now, and I attribute it to my weight loss mainly. But other factors that help are exercise and drinking lots of water.
Slow and steady sure seems to be the right way to lose weight. Remember weight training will help tone your arms, which you are most prone to showing off. My tummy is definitely lose now, but 2 babies have grown in there.....anyways I don't plan on baring my belly :D
