| How do you lead? Requirements? Give me some info and I may be interested. One more thing to keep me on the ball wouldn't hurt! |

there's not much involved, really!
i will post a sticky thread for challenge results here in the exercise forum. each team leader will post a reply initially [next monday] that lists the members of their team ... they'll update that post each week [using the edit function] to list each participant's total point tally [running total] plus the team's overall total.
as well, each leader will be responsible for posting a week X results post for their team where people will post both their point totals for the previous week, as well as goals for the coming week. people should total up their points individually, but you'll use that thread to go through and tally up the totals for the week.
i'll start the posts so you can essentially just copy-paste the outline i put in and add in your team members' names ... pretty easy.
does that all make sense? all in all it's about 10-15 minutes of "work" per week. |

excellent! at this point we have 30 people in for the challenge, so we might be able to get away with three teams of 10. i'll wait til tomorrow to see if we dont' have any stragglers and then we'll see where we're at ... does anybody want to volunteer to be a 4th leader incase we get an extra few folks? we may have 31 if bkro9 desides to stay in, so i'm sure we could even it out to 32 participants if need be. |

| All right, I'll lead a team. I've helped run a challenge before so it shouldn't be that big of a deal. The more involved you are the better for motivation! NOW--we're ready to go! I'm really looking forward to it! I've been really gearing up since I've been off track for so long and can't wait to get started. Forward HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! |

| Did we ever decide for sure if there is to be a limit on bonus points for the week? |

we didn't ... you can't double up on bonus points PER DAY [e.g. you can't get 4 bonus points for 40 mins of strength training simply because the rules say you get 2 points for an extra 20 minute session ... you'd just get a 2 point bonus regardless of the time of the session] but i don't think we need to put a cap on bonus points. if someone is really working it, they're going to see results and i think they should be rewarded, but that's just my opinion ... what does everybody else think? |

OK, just so I get this right in my head......If someone does 30 min of biking in the morning, takes a 30 minute brisk walk on their lunch, and do 30 minutes on the elliptical in the evening--they only get 5 extra bonus points, right?
Conceivably one could earn an extra 35 points a week in cardio alone if they doubled up on their required four days and did a bonus on each of their three down days. In short, you can do one bonus session per day whether or not you did one of the required workouts. No TWO cardio bonuses in one day. I think I got it.
For strength training, there's a possibility of collecting an additional 10 points per week if you strength train every day. I used to alternate upper body, lower body, and abs. Are we on the same wavelength or am I in leftfield? |

vicki, you're correct with all of that. i know there's a potential for a lot of bonus points, but that's the point of the challenge - for people to push themselves!
that all said, if you're accustomed to a full hour of cardio, it's really not fair to give yourself bonus points for just for going beyond 30 minutes. 30 minutes is the MINIMUM duration for a cardio workout. you should award yourself bonus points based on your existing instensity level and whether you challenge yourself beyond that ... for me, if i do only 30 minutes of cardio i'm not losing weight, so even if i do a 30 min run and 30 mins of elliptical, i'm not really pushing myself. that's a normal workout for me. so i wouldn't give myself bonus points, because it's not challenging [well, it is, but not more than usual challenging].
does that make sense? |
