| I just started by SBD yesterday, but my problem is water. I am not much of a water drinker, so...can I have tea and diet soda? Would I lose weight faster if I drink more water? |

Welcome!!
I know that in my fitness magazine...they say to help weight loss, you should drink anywhere from 0.5 to 1.0 oz of water for every pound you weigh...
i believe that tea counts.... so i change it up...and try to drink most of my days water at work... so i dont notice it as much....
I have a 16oz cup that i try to drink every hour... and then that also gets me up and moving around the office....
I dont remember exactly what they said it was about drinking all the water...but i can tell you... it took a bit to get used to....but... now i cant live with out my water...hehe
good luck!! |

Try not to count caffeinated beverages as part of your "water", simply because caffeine is a diuretic and will "undo" your efforts.
I found it really hard to start drinking water... when I was a kid I wouldn't drink anything at all. I'd have a little juice in the morning, a box drink at lunch and a glass of water with dinner (which I rarely drank all of), and that was about it -- weird kid, eh? :D Anyhow, when it came time to start drinking water it was tough! I just hated water and swore it made me feel sick. So, I started with small goals and slowly worked my way up to 3 litres a day. The toughest part was drinking water first thing when I get up. I started with just a mouthful, and now I drink 16oz as soon as I get up. It really makes a huge difference in how I feel, and it honestly does get WAY easier to drink! Now I rarely want anything but water to drink and I happily drink lots of it.
Two tricks that I thought helped -- get a water bottle to measure how much you are drinking. And, drink good water, not tap water! It's much easier to drink water if it isn't yucky -- definitely invest in a filter/filter jug if you haven't already! |

| Another way to make the water bearable is to add a bit of lemon juice. Each morning, I fill up a 32 oz bottle with a little lemon juice and some ice cubes. It is easy to drink. As soon as it is empty - I fill it up again. Typically, before dinner - I've had my 64 oz. For me - the lemon juice is the key. (Try not to overdo it though - lemon juice does have some carbs in it). |

| I agree with Christie on the lemon juice thing. I bring wedges of lemon to work every week, so I have plenty for my water. This enables me to get my 8 glasses a day, though I usually end up drinking more, since it's my preferred beverage. Good luck! |

| I found a GREAT article about water that someone had posted on a different message board, but it's really really long so I'm going to start a new thread and post it. It's worth the read, I promise!! It's called The Water Cure. |

Maybe I'm mental-but I found that at work I drink more water if it's in a clear glass or bottle. I was using a cute pink cup but never drank more than 1-2 glasses. One day I forgot my cup and bought a bottle out of the snack machines. I kept refilling it when it was empty and drank 6 bottles that day  .
Also, if you use decaffeinated tea, then that does count as your water. |
