Gosh! I felt like I was putting in a personal ad when I started typing the subject  .

I have overweight teen dd's and thought they may be willing to do some fun dance exercise videos with me if I could find something.

Any recommendations?? I've checked online and there are SO many that I couldn't choose.

Thanks,

Anne

Carmen Electra has some really good ones, I have like 5 of them! ...

Also- my boyfriend got me an interesting one for his playstation 2. Its a workout trainer that is kinda like a video game, you program in your weight, height, workout preferences, music taste, etc and it has tons of options such as yoga, pilates, cardio, arms/legs, etc

its a little cheesy but not too bad

When I first read the title, I thought ok this is a thread that is going to be deleted. Then I saw who started it...and thought I better check it REAL QUICK.

DD's one GF has the Dance Dance Revolution for one of the game systems that they really like. The girls usually come out of that session all hot and tired.

Thanks, Mr. Moderator. But we do not yet own a game system (although the idea has been tossed around).

I know some people who really like Yoga Booty Ballet. I've never seen or tried it, but they like it. Check your library and see if there are any available there so you can try before you buy!

Didn't Carmen Electra have those teaching you how to strip dance videos... ? :?

I agree with Jeff, getting a video game console, and buying a hard DDR pad with some DDR games is the one of the funnest things to do with kids. I mean, kids through high school and college still play it! It's actually a pretty cool thing to do. Although, the dangers of that is that you'll end up buying other games that might turn them into couch potatoes. :/

DDR was the best thing that ever happened to me! (until I got burnt out from forcing myself to do it 6 days a week) It's fun and worth the investment. PS2's are 120 bucks new in store. Buy and game w/ a pad packed in...60? Buy an extra pad (only 2player game) 20. Weight loss and confidence boost...priceless. LOL.

So, 200 dollar investment. It's pricey. How much is a treadmill? Elliptical? Stairmaster? Just a thought...
We're a gaming family. $200 doesn't seem so bad after awhile.

Just my thoughts. Have fun with whatever you decide!

There are so many that look like they'd be fun. I wish I'd had them when I was an overweight teenager.

Have you seen http://www.collagevideo.com?
There, you can search videos by categories & they have clips of them.

www.beachbody.com (they do infomercials) makes, besides Yoga Booty Ballet, Hip Hop Abs and Turbo Jam, which lots of people say are fun.

I think MTV makes some fitness videos too.

Videos can get expensive, so you might want to do whatever you can do to preview them before buying.

i would suggest Byou - (pronounced Be You) and i saw it in walmart. one of these TV celebrity teenagers is in it and some people said it was not bad.

if you're looking for any beachbody product (Turbo Jam, Yoga Booty Ballet, Project You) you can try QVC.com - better customer service IMHO.

another one, if you like him, is Billy Blanks. but personally, i'd rather do Turbo Jam. Another one to consider is Janis Saffell in Quick Fit Cardio Kick - it's kickboxing and Ross stores has this title for something like $4.99.

if you can stand her, Jillian Michaels from Biggest Loser just came out with a beginner's set that Walmart carries. i personally am OK with her, but some people don't like her personality.

carmen electra - i would read the reviews first. i haven't tried her stuff yet, but anything that has striptease in the title might not be appropriate for you or teenage girls!

DDR is excellent - many of the PE programs have been buying it to get kids interested in fitness.

I'm not positive but I am ALMOST certain DDR also has a computer hookup system. (I'll give another vote for this. Very fun for me, too!)

Hi I am new to posting here. You alll seem like a great bunch of people and i hope i can be a part of this great group. Nice to "meet" you guys!

Now, about Dance Dance Revolution, you guys have inspired me to try it! So i was searching around for it on the interenet and i found out that you can get one that plugs into your tv, and you won't need any game systems! It's very affordable IMO. I found it on the main page of their main website: www.ddrgames.com

But then i looked on ebay and i found a ton of them for even cheaper! You can just seach for "ddr tv pad". I am going to get one off of ebay and my total with shipping included is about $17!

I am so excited to try this because i get bored easily with regular exercise and i am always looking for fun exercise. I have played this before and a long time ago at a friend's house when it first came out and it was so fun. But I dont have any game systems so i never got it. But now i dont have to have a system to play it! I hope it works! :D

about the DDR TV hookup w/out PS2....i heard bad things about this. i'd check the reviews on Amazon before buying. i heard it's a waste of money.

also, DDR just came out with a DVD version, with a pad, but the pad does not connect to the TV - it got lots of bad reviews because you can't tell how you scored - it has no way of tabulating your results.

i just saw an infomercial for these DVDs which looked pretty fun ... more dance oriented and not a lame aerobics class.

Yes, I totally agree with buying from QVC rather than from the infomercial. Often the price is lower as well.

Someone mentioned CollageVideo-- also a great choice.
