our public library has this and i borrowed it. there's another book by a different author - called Power of 10 by Adam Zickerman with the similar theory.
i did try it, but it is boring as heck! i'm used to using DVDs to work out with.
my DH, who is a PE teacher and works out in the gym, said he saw some gains in strength using this process.
this is a heavy weight, low rep style regimen. with Frederick Hahn's book, Slow Burn, you need a timer and basic equipment. you do the reps slow going up, and down, and you need to really increase the weight enough to get muscle failure by the 10th rep. you will get to a point where you'll need access to machines or super heavy dumbbells because after a while, you'll really be pumping some heavy iron.
plus, for legs, you'll need access to racks/machines because not many people have super heavy barbells lying around at home to train the legs. |
