I've been on South Beach for 3 weeks and lost 12 lbs. the first 2 weeks, but I :? :? have not lost any weight in the last week at all! I've been in continuous phase 1 because I have a lot to lose, but I'm confused as to why it stopped. Any suggestions?

Think about it...you just lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks.... that's six pounds a week. Long term that's just not healthy, realistic to maintain and the kind of weight that will stay off.

You need to go onto Phase II. Backing up the quick 12 lb weight loss with slow and steady loss is what's going to keep your body going on its utilization of fat. It's a great mistake many Beachers make to think that the all their weight will come off as easy and as quickly as the first... and it's a HUGE mistake to force your body to do so by staying on Phase I. You can always go back to Phase I like I do once a week every month for a cleansing...

Try adding a multivitamin and omega 3 to your diet to jump start your metabolism. It worked for me when I stalled. Plus I changed the menu up a bit, feeding the body the same things over and over convinces your body that you are going into starvation mode, and then it holds onto the lbs for dear life.

I feel like I am not losing anything.... I am in P1 day 7 and have only lost 3lbs. I am 5ft 4inches and started off weighing 142 and I am still stuck around 139.

How can you say you feel like you're not losing anything! You just lost 3 lbs in a week! That's a pound or two more than what a dr. would suggest you lose in a week. People need to stop looking for an overnight cure and take it slow. And I know it's easier said than done, but stay off the scale...your weight fluctuates everyday not to mention it's very decieving. It doesn't show how much of the weight is fat, water, muscle, etc. I'm 5'7, weigh 149, and wear size 7 jeans. I also work out with weights. Muscle weighs more than fat, so I try not to look at the numbers on a scale. I started SB to lose some weight I put on over the winter (about 10 lbs) and to start eating healthier. Go by the way your clothes fit. If you absolutely have to know what you weigh, only check it once a month or if necessary, every other week. And here's a tip for women...the best time to weigh yourself it the 12th day after the first day of your period. I read that one in Oxygen magazine (great mag!)

Unfortunatlely, stalls in weight loss are usually part of the process. In March I lost a lot of weight suddenly one week (I was ill) then gained 3 pounds the following week, 2 more pounds the week after that and I stalled at that level for three weeks. It was driving me crazy because I couldn't figure out what I was doing "wrong". Then I started losing again. This week I'm stalled out once more. I think it would do my sanity a lot of good to get away from the weekly weigh ins and weigh less frequently! In spite of the stalls on the scale, I still felt like I was losing size... in the end, that's what really matters! Don't give up hope my fellow Beach mates!

This helps me a bit! I'm 5'7" and I weigh 161-164 (I'm not sure what because i gained 3 lbs since yesterday and I have no clue why!). I want to lose about 15 more lbs...

Last Sunday I ended Phase 1 (having lost about 8 lbs) and I know I shouldn't expect ot lose more since then, but I have actually gained more! I'm getting really frustrated because I want to lose at least another 10 by mid-August, and it feels impossible!

Please someone, I need encouragement! I need more stories like SoulLips shared! SoulLips, how much weight have you lost and in what amount of time?

I've lost somewhere between 26-30 pounds since January 26. I adjusted my scale a couple months ago to make it more accurate... that caused me to "gain" weight just because of the differece. I think I've lost 30 pounds. I've lost between 2-3 dress sizes since then too. That's a MAJOR accomplishment given that the difference in sizes is pretty big in the upper size range (started out in TIGHT 26's and I'm comfortably in 22's now). I still have a long way to go... but I'm headed in the right direction. Today a co-worker commented on noticing my continued weight loss... this is in spite of the scale not reflecting a difference.

Wow that's great, Soul! I feel so frustrated because I've actually gained 2-3 pounds since P1 and today I cheated BIG TIME! I haven't been eating many fruits & veggies... Do you think that could be it?

Hey guys,
I am on day 18 of the diet and I actually gained 2 pounds last weekend on day 13. I did not lose it until yesterday so I feel kind of stalled as well. I lost another .5 this morning so I'm hoping I'm back on track. I have never cheated on the diet and watch my fats very closely, eating mostly grilled fish, salads and grilled or stir fried vegetables. It seems that I do better on the days where I eat the most vegetables. I think our bodies are just adjusting to the new way of eating. Keep it up. I have confidence that it is going to work for us all.

CSC, I have also noticed that my weight loss is much more consistent when I eat lots of veggies. I've asked myself several times WHY I'm not eating more veggies if I know that brings success. The answer is simple... I'm burned out on being in the kitchen and I'm in a lazy phase. I'm looking forward to summer and better produce... that will definitely inspire me!
