Lupe

HI all

otter, glad I am in your team

I will be out until week 3, I am going to Paris/London for my honeymoon
but I am commited to jump back on track as soon as I come back
which will be good because even thoguh I will do a lot of walking, I won't work out and I am not planning to deprive myself of anything

In any case, I am not in the challenge to loose weight, I do it for the motivation and to keep my healthy habits on check

good luck team!!!

Hi Lupe!!

Have a blast on your honeymoon!!! I am counting the days--27 days to go till our trip!
I am not going to stress about eating but while we are there-I am bringing my runnning shoes and I WILL go for a run every morning before breakfast.

There is a gym and a running track on the ship.
The way I look at it is I can eat what I want and do my part in damage control. There is no excuse for me to not set aside 40 minutes to do some cardio before we get going in the AM. I am an early riser anyway

When are you taking off?

Good morning, everybody!

I was crabby yesterday but still had a beachy day. My routine is going to have to change for a while because my daughter is on crutches and needs to be driven and picked up from school. That means that I'm late for work and have to rearrange my afternoons, but it'll be fine for a while.

My husband gets up at 4am every day, works out, then leaves for the office at 5:45. I'm a morning person, but I couldn't do that. No way. I really admire his dedication.

I"ll be going to TKD class at noon today and the weather is finally a bit nicer, so I might take the dog out for a walk later today.

well, I plan to walk a lot in Paris, walk, walk, walk non stop
I am taking my pilates video for London, while DH is at work, I am taking my instructor exam may 5th. I actuallt gaine dinches in the extreme challenge, on my thights I guess is because I was doing more strength training besides Pilates, so I am back to Pilates!!! It give me long lean muscles, and if you do it right is an excellent strength workout.

I usually loose weight when I am out of this country anyway, so while in paris I am going to try to eat the parisian way, eat what I enjoy and makes me feel good and stop when I am satisfied (not stuffed). They say you actually loose weight that way.

Life is way too short and don’t I know it.
I cannot wait around, relaxing, on my butt sit.
Grab life with both hands.
And strike up the bands.
This old codger is going for every bit of it!

I had a grand time at BodyFlow this morning and I am already looking forward to tomorrow morning’s BodyPump. I find it strange that most of the people in the all classes are between 35 to 45 years old. Quite often I am the only ‘senior citizen’; usually it seems that I am the oldest person in the class. Yes, I have old person’s problems, mainly osteoarthritis in the hands, neck, and feet. But intense exercise eases the pain for hours and gives me such a zest for life it must be sinful! I think it is a waste for society to tell older people to just sit back and relax. To misquote from the first Conan movie, “there’s time enough to relax in the grave!”

Good (late) Morning all! I just got doing doing 20 min. of DDR on Workout Mode. It is so much fun! I had set it to do 30 min. but my calves were killing me and I was drenched! I hope I stretch out my calves enough so the don't hurt too bad for tomorrow's C25K workout. I know my calves probably wouldn't hurt so bad if I wore shoes while doing DDR, but I don't think you are supposed to on the soft dance pads. I just don't want to ruin mine.

I hope you are all having a beachy day so far. I still need to go and eat breakfast, but I think I will shower first. :D I will check in with you all later!

Hi everyone!

I hate days where I am chasing the rabbits down the rabbit holes. I was running around all day and really didn't accomplish what I wanted to today.

I did get to the gym for my work out and I can tell my body is warning me to be careful. I am getting aches in my joints, perhaps because I am not stetching enough before and after I do cardio.
I am half way through "The Biggest Loser"competition at my gym and I am down a few pounds since I began. There are free prizes for particiants so maybe there is a free massage in there for me???

Love 2 paint--Hope you are having a better day today!
Lupe Your fitness and eating plan sounds spot on!! (French women don't get fat, right?"

oarsinsailsup~ Welcome to our challenge! Tell us about yourself! Are you new to SB? What do you think so far?

Hey Otter, what kind of cardio are you doing? Muscle pain can be somewhat good, but joint pain usually isn't.

OGB
We have an indoor running track at our gym and 9m laps is a mile. The surface is that "corkie" cushion stuff.
I love to walk--it is my favorite form of exercise because it is so "do-able" and requires no machines or equipment.

WHen I say walk..I am really moving out (I think) I can walk a mile in under 13 minutes--so I am stretching my stride.

Last month I started to add in interval training which ends up being 4 warm up laps, followed by a run/sprint lap then 2 fast walking recovery laps. The I do 30 laps which is about 5 K 3.2 miles

Today when I was toward the end of my cardio my leg started to have a dull ache--not serious pain...just that dull annoying pain that if I had run really fast I might have pulled something

I stretched after my cardio and several hours later my joints were just achy near my hips. Perhaps it is because I am starrting to challenge myself more--the sprints I know are getting faster (we have a clock I time by)

I probably should take a multi vitamin or glucosamine I just cannot remember to take vitamins every day.

Hey totally off subject:

Do you all weigh yourselves: a) at all b)every day or 1 x a week. I just read a magazine article that when losing weight you should weigh 1 x a week and when you want to maintain you should weigh every day. Thoughts?

Otter,
8 years ago I gave running because of knee pain and ended up with surgery so I am no expert on runner's knees. If you were doing step aerocbics I was going to advise that you should watch your form, make sure your foot is properly planted, make sure your raisers are clean and well seated to the floor, and forget about the extra hop in some moves.

As to weighing myself, I do it before and after my workout. I use it to judge the intensity of my workout more than anything else. I also have to watch for dehydration. My kidneys and bladder are scarred from kidney stones so I get pain sometimes if I get dehydrated. If I lose over 2 pounds in a workout, I am chugging water on the way out of the gym.

LOVE2Paint-love the dog picture! We currently have a black lab puppy that we are raising for Guiding Eyes and he is a hoot. Each of our puppies has been so different it is amazing. I have only seen one other dog that smiles like that a friend's dalmatian.

MEMOO- you are correct you should not use shoes on the soft mats. One of the main reasons I can't do DDR. I need the support of shoes to do any jumping. My daughter love the game thought.

I did get my cardio in last night and will ask hubby to stop and get some light weight tomorrow if I can't find the old set. Any suggestions for beginners on strength training. I did well on water and eating beach and will post a recipe tonight.
