THIS is the place to post questions, comments, experiences, and most importantly - ENCOURAGEMENT to one another as we progress through this Challenge!

Weekly logs for exercise/food/etc. (which your Team Captain will use to calculate your weekly points) should be posted in the Logs Thread.

Recipes should be posted in the main Challenge thread. The main Challenge Thread is also where point totals will be posted by your Team Captains each week, so keep an eye on it!

Some things to do as we all prepare for MONDAY:
* Make a post in the Log thread with a blank weekly template (see first post of the Log thread) that you can update with your progress each week
* Decide on your Personal Goal for Week 1 and enter it in your Log post
* Do your weigh-ins so you'll have an official starting weight for Monday!
* Read back through the Challenge guidelines in the main Challenge thread - I've updated/added some info to help clarify some issues - if anything is still confusing please ASK!
* Post in this thread to introduce yourself to your teammates!

GOOD LUCK to everyone!!

Welcome everyone, a bit about myself. I did South Beach in 2004 and was very successful. I l moved to P3 and just kept letting myself have more and more treats until I had finally slipped and slid my way back to being fat. I started a new job that was suppose to be part-time and is more like 45 hours a week, very sedentary. So, the exercise was put on the back burner (WAY WAY WAY on the back burner) as well. Next thing I know I have gained back almost all the weight and am very unhappy. The worse part is that my daughter who had gone on the diet with me had followed my lead and has gained back a lot of the weight she lost as well.
I am the mother of 4 teenagers, work for a small company doing everything from accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, shipping, order entry and bookkeeping. A very exciting job that is easy to get sucked into. I am currently taking a course in sign language just for fun and with my daughter raise puppies for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

I think the hardest part of this challenge will be the exercise outdoors. Biting bugs just LOVE me and the times of day I have to exercise they will be in full force.

need it gone

Hey teammies!! I am ready o move from the extreme challenge into this one!! :) I want to have my personla goal be to keep up the exrcise regime I did in the Extreme Challenge. I am feeling good and want to keep it going!

A little about me. I am 40 years old...gasp....the mom of two great kids, divorced from their dad but ready to marry again this Seotember to Michael. I started SBD on January 2nd aftre taking a hard look at our engagement pics and crying my eyes out. I really had no idea ow aweful I looked! It really made me sick to look at some of the photos. When I saw the nuber on the scale I wanted to die. I saw 303. OMG I was over 300 pounds and I knew with a Mother wo had been through double bypass and a Dad with high blood pressure I had better change my ways and now!! So on January 2nd I started a new life for myself. I want to be around to play with my Grandchildren someday and live a long life.

Since January 2nd I have lost 40 pounds and people are starting to notice that I am losing weight. I have a really long way to go and am hoping to look a lot different on our wedding day Sept 29th of this year. I have less than 6 months to change myslef some more but I know with signing up for these challenges it really helps to keep me on track.

I am finding that I want to exercise now and do not want to sit still anymore and if I am watching TV I will grab my stability and do some crucnches or something. It feels good to be getting healthier.

I am finding myself getting closer and closer to my fisrt BIG goal. That is to lose 56 pounds. Kind of a strange number, but that is how much my little girl weighs and when I hit that goal, I will be able to pick her up and see exactly how much extra weight I have been carrying around with me. :)

So I think I have rambled enough. :)

Maryone

Hey there YELLOW TEAM! Hope you are ready for this! I AM ready!!!

A little intro...
I'm a 23 years old girl, I live near Montreal in Canada. I'm a graphic designer so I work on computers all day. I've been the chubby girl almost all my life but gained most of the extra weight during college. I'm single, I live alone and that part is really hard because there no one to give me that little push I need to get out of the couch! I love to exercise but it has to be something I enjoy... I bough some cardio DVDs but I don't like it. I like outdoor exercise, and i've recently started to run. I LOVE it! And I can't wait to start cycling again when the weather will be warmer. I managed to lose 45 pounds with SB in a year but now seems like i'm in a huge plateau and i'm playing with the same five pounds over and over. I hope this challenge will kick start my weight loss and get me back to at least my lowest weight on the beach.

WE CAN DO THIS!

Oh and if you wanna see what I look like...there's an old thread with my before/after pictures

Hi everyone!
Our baseball game got rained out :(

I am Otter and this is my first time as a team co-captain--so bear with me...
About me....
I am 37, married and have 3 boys (12,5 and almost 4) and 3 stepchildren (twin 12 YO girls and a 9 YO boy) Summers at our house are sheer lunacy.
I am in the Army and so is DH.. so fitness..is...well lets just say I have not always had a fondness for exercise. I am finally in an position where I get to do my own fitness program and we have a gym at work which is awesome!!!
I started SB the first time after DS 3 was born (May 03)and lost alot the pregnancy weight. I didn't understand the program and didn't know this forum was available. And my weight started to go up.
I have done WW 3 or 4 times and found no lasting success
I dusted off my SB book in May 2006 lost about 9 lbs and floundered all through the holidays and all but .5 I gained back
I recommitted to SB in Jan 07 when DH went to Iraq for a short tour and I am going strong now.
I am at my lowest in almost 7 years and I really think I am getting the hang of this WOE.
I learned the secret combinations to losing weight (in no particular order).....healthy choices..portion control...stringing together lots of clean (SB) days, treating a little, exercise, journaling, water, and getting support from my friends in the forum.....

I will be your cheerleader for the next 4 weeks along with Meemoo. I am going on a cruise on May 14th and cannot guarantee I will be able to get on the internet while I am gone so Meemoo and I are in this together.

I wish everyone success. I hope no one quits because there is a ton of support here and even if we don't win...just finishing a challenge will make you stronger than you were before you started.
I think this challenge is great for all levels of fitness and I think Team Yellow has what it takes to make sure we all finish this challenge!

Looking forward to posting here every day!!

Take care
Otter

OldGreyBob

Hi, I am OldGreyBob, a sixty year old fellow,
Who has just by chance landed in team yellow!
I be saying hi to all.
Lets go and have a ball.
For in a challenge this old chap is never mellow!

Well, I am OldGreyBob, a sixty year married bugger with 2 sons and 3 grandkids. I am currently employed as a IT System Quality Assurance Specialist for the State of Wisconsin. What that means is that I test and break all new computer applications for my department so others cannot. Even though I love my job, I plan to retire in August of 2008; ~500 calendar days form now, (see my web page for a minute to minute countdown.) What does retirement mean for me, it means that I will be able to spend more time at the gym and to partake in one of my favorite activities in the gym, doubling up on classes – such as a BodyPump followed by BodyStep. Retirement also means time to travel and maybe to see parts of my State, my Country, and the World I have only dreamed of seeing. Examples of places I would like to see is the Brewery at the St. James’ Gate in Dublin, Ireland; the Anne Frank Haus in Amsterdam, Netherlands; Rome, Italy; and my Grandfather birthplace in Berlin, Germany.

I have been on the SBD since July 30, 2004. While on the diet, I have lost nearly 60 pounds. Unfortunately while on phase 3 I had regained about 17 pounds back. Starting last November, by doubling my workout and watching my phase 3 diet I lost those pounds and now if I am lucky I might just lose a few more, but just maintaining is my real goal. My DW is now starting what I call an African diet, she is in a de-Nile diet. She feels that the SBD is to restrictive so she just plans to stop eating many fattening things, in other words food denial. I see the SBD as opening new taste and experiences. Oh, well.

What do I do for fun? The classes at the gym are my major form of recreation but I also like real sourdough baking, writing Limericks, listening to Celtic music, reading Fantasy and Science Fiction books, and reading personal accounts of military history. I am also considering going back to the University of Wisconsin. Senior citizens can audit courses for free at the UW. I would love to audit and retake a few courses in Physics such as Relativistic Mechanics.

Love2paint4you

Hey Friends!

I'm Barb. I'm a 43 year old, married mother of one. I've been a lifelong jock, and I've had a life long battle with weight. Actually, looking back, I wasn't fat as a kid or young adult, just built very athletically and was made to feel that I was fat. Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Anyhow, I am the marketing director for a chiropractic and physical therapy practice, I'm a first degree black belt in taekwondo and coach at the school. I'm also a freelance professional photographer and do a lot of scrapbooking, for which I've been blessed to be published and recognized quite a lot. Finally, I am a piano student and I'm the lead alto in my church choir. I'm a busy chick!

I have always worked hard to maintain my weight around 150, but unfortunately packed over 75lbs. in 2001 due to medication. I've managed to peel off 30 of that and get in pretty good physical shape since joining taekwondo 2004, but I obviously still have a way to go.

There is a lot of bad medical history in my family, like T2 diabetes, heart disease, and colon cancer and I REALLY don't want to go there. I'm pretty competive in TKD and I've set a goal to be top ten in the world among women in my rank in 2008, so I need to get those pounds off if I want to be as fast as I need to be.

That's me in a very long nutshell!

Aingeal

Hi all!

I'm Aingeal. I am 37, married, no kids, 2 cats! I work in financial services for the University here in Dallas.

I have slowly gained wieght since getting married 15 years ago. My doctor suggested this WOE about two years ago. I tried it four about 3 months and fell of the wagon because it was Thanksgiving / Christmas time of year. I tried to start again last Augist but didnt have the will power or support I need to be successful.

This time around I prepared myself mentally for 2 months before starting again. January 2nd is my official starting day on SB. So far I have lost 33 lbs. I just went through my closet yesterday and removed all of my size 26 clothes! I now fit into 22/24.

I think this challenge is about my speed. It has taken everything I had to do the extreme challenge. It was a little too much for me and although I DID the workouts, there were too many for me and I ended up doing less at a time. This challenge is more of where I think I can handle and really feel I am acomplishing something.

Why do I want to do this? Becasue these challenges have kept me from getting off track.

I have a gool of 235-230 by July 4th because my Dh and I are renewing our wedding vows for our 15th anniversary. My next huge goal is 200 on my 38th birthday on November 29th. My ultimate goal is 170. I really feel I can do this. I know my body and have learned what I can and can't do.

I wish everyone the best luck, not only for the challenge, but in just meeting your own personal goals. Good luck!!!

Zosia

WooHoo - Here I am on the Yellow team!

I started SB on 3/18 and so far have been following the eating guidelines religiosly - even picking out croutons from my salad if I cant tell if they're whole wheat or not.

Bob - meet another from your generation. I'm 63 and living in Ohio. I too work for the state in the Department of Health and am looking forward to retirement in about 2 years. My doc wants me to take off some lbs to see if affcts my blood pressure. Overall taking off this weight that has accumulated since I hit 50 would have a positive impact my health.

I've biked in France and would love to do some of the longer sponsored bike trips here in the states. My bike is ready to go - soon as the weather gets a little warmer. My partner and I made a joint New year's resolution that we would do at least one hike a month, increasing distance til we can backpack for 2-3 days. Last hike on easter was 5.5 miles over moderately hard trails. the hills had me huffing.

My biggest challenge is going to be the water. I probably drink 64 oz of liquids but not all water. I promise to give it my best shot even if this means I guzzzle the last of it before I go to bed which most likely will mean a couple of trips to the john before morning.

Glad to meet all on the Yellow team -
Will post weight and personal challenge goals tomorrow.

Hi TEAM YELLOW!!

Welcome to Day one of the challenge!! Is everyone ready??

I have my measuring cups out--water pitcher has water in it and my gym clothes are in my "wall locker"
I can't go to my circuit class but I will get my cardio in today!

Visit my journal if you would like to know what I eat every day

Truthfully, I eat the same thing almost every day for lunch and breakfast--somehow I am more comfortable staying in an eating routine during the week.

I am down 2 lbs since last week and that brings my total weight loss to over 20 lbs!!! YEAHHHH ME!!!!
These challenges really help--I am proof of that!

Old Grey Bob looking forward to your limericks--what fun!

Have a great Monday!!

ftanya

Good morning all

It was great to read all about everyone.

I'm a 27 year old who is currently on maternity leave with my 5 month old son, which means that I'm home without anyone to stop me from repeated trips to the kitchen, but I'm getting really good at stopping myself. I decided that I need to be healthier now so that I can be around to play with my son and have the energy I need to be a wife, mom, high school teacher (returning in September) and a good role model to those young people I see every day. I gained 65 pounds during my pregnancy, and have lost all but 5 pounds of that, but am far from my ideal weight of 150 pds. Becuase I'm a new mom, I don't have time to go to the gym, instead, I've ordered the Power 90 workouts from Beachbody, and I do Circuit training 3 days a week and Cardio 3 days a week. I really enjoy these workouts, so it's easier to get my but out of bed at 4:45 am to make sure that I get my workout in before the baby wakes up because once he's awake....who knows what the day will be like.

I started SB Feb 17th, and have lost only 17 pounds. Starting this challenge today, my weight is 204, however, i'm not sure how accurate this is because of TOM. If anything, it's higher than it should be which will mean a bigger "loss" this week...I'll take it!!!

I am starting this challenge to keep me motivated. Since I finished phase 1, I have allowed myself way too many treats. I have decided that if I meet my goals each week, instead of allowing treats to reward myself, I'm going to put 20$ in a jar. Once I've lost all of the weight, I'm going to take that money and go buy myself a new wardrobe...clothes that I will feel proud to put on in the morning.

BTW, I carry a lot of my extra weight around my mid section, so if anybody has any suggestions to help speed up the weight loss, the advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I look forward to hearing from everyone.

Take care
TAnya

OK Team this is your Co-Captain speaking, listen up! (ha ha do I sound like a drill sergeant? Probably not mean enough, right Otter?)

I am so excited to be able to help lead this team. Hopefully it will mean that I will post here more often and offer some team support. I feel like everyone should already know me since we all introduce ourselves every challenge, but for those who are new to my team or to challenges in general...

I am 33, married to an English Literature Graduate Student at Idaho State University, we have 2 boys (7 and 4) and 1 girl (2) and I work as a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations (isn't that what us stay-at-home moms do?:D ) I love spending time with my kids and watching Denver Broncos football and Utah Jazz basketball with my husband. I have hobbies like reading, playing my acoustic guitar (and Guitar Hero 2), and scrapbooking that I don't take the time to enjoy.

My personal goals this week are 1) to do all three of the C25K workouts (as part of my 9 exercise sessions, in keeping with the Extreme Challenge plan) and 2) to eat NO sugar except for one sq. of dark chocolate a day (NO Easter candy!)

I am looking forward to getting to "meet" you all. I encourage you all to come here often to support each other and I know we will have a great challenge together! GO YELLOWS!!
