Pa'dow!

Hey RED team! I had to just log in and let everyone know that I'm still here ... however I haven't been doing too well with the challenge. My work trip has completely thrown me off (I know - bad willpower). Unfortunately I had a salesguy with me that thought it was very important that if everyone ordered a drink, I ordered a drink and if everyone had a starter, I had a starter (same with dessert). Unfortunately, the best choices weren't made and I apologize to you all for my off-trackness. The other thing is that I developed a really bad heat rash ... which led to me having to stay out of the sun and heat for the most part, keep my body cool (which ended up limiting my exercise) and overall not feel very well. I now have drugs and a strong steroid cream which has helped quite a bit. Unfortunately my scores for the last two weeks will not be very beneficial to the team - I'll do my best to beef up the last week. I'm so proud of all of the rest of you and how you've been taking the challenge to the utmost - some of your scores are outstanding and you all should be so proud. I'm hoping to use that as my inspiration for the last week of the challenge.

Were the scores posted somewhere for last week? I missed them.

Hi RED team!
I haven't been around much since I got a my new job. I have carved out some good exercise time in the AM and have actually managed to get it all in. Just haven't had time to post!!

Hope you're all doing great.

Hey there Red Team!

Week 3 is complete!! How'd it go for everyone? Two weeks to go!

I was unable to complete my Personal Goal this week, which was extremely frustrating... I was doing fine with everything until one night mid-week (I think it was Wednesday), my abs were so sore for NO good reason (they haven't been painfully sore at ALL since I've started doing the crunches, and it's not as though I'd suddenly started doing more than normal!), so there was just no way I could get through my crunches. Aarghhh. The abs seem to have been fine since then though, so I'm (stubbornly) having crunches be part of my Week 4 Personal Goal. :)

This coming weekend is going to involve a couple fun things. First of all, the official 5K race I've been training for with Cto5K for the past two months is happening on Saturday the 12th!! I'm really looking forward to it. I'm not at the point where I can do the distance easily (or even comfortably really!), but I CAN do it, and I'm really excited about that! I've even gone ahead and signed myself up for a couple more 5Ks over the summer to make sure I keep up the jogging!

Also this weekend I'm finally getting to see my boyfriend (whom I haven't seen in almost a month and a half!). He's coming to see my race and then we're spending the rest of the weekend together. We're even going to celebrate delayed Cinqo de Mayo ("Cinqo-plus-seven de Mayo!"), since I was too busy this past weekend with final projects for my classes to properly celebrate the holiday. So we're going to go out for Mexican food (I checked out the restaurant's menu online and am planning to get this great-sounding salad that has grilled vegetables, avocado and grilled chicken) and then having a few tequila shots. :) I am going to keep the tequila to the allowed 2 shots-worth though, don't worry!

I have a final-week training program all planned out to prepare for my 5K, and I'm just really excited about it!

The end of my week three was a little off, but overall decent. Good news though, I finally lost more then 1/2 a pound! I was down 2 pounds this morning from last Monday. I went to sleep last night chanting in my head, "Please be XYZ.A in the morning!" I was hoping to stick with at least the same 1/2 pound loss I've been having so I was pleasantly surprised when it was 2 whole pounds!

Good point, I didn't see them if they were.

I did my typical, rock on during the week, slack off on the weekend. Seems like every Friday or Saturday there is "something" going on. For example, on Friday I rocked until I got a call from a old friend whom I haven't hung out with in a bit and we had some drinks after work (ok, lots of drinks). Then on Saturday I was doing great during the day then at night I went to a wine tasting, then to a keroeke bar. I even managed to eat well all day including at a restaurant where everyone was having desert but me. I almost made my personal goal but failed by one day (sorry :(). I still don't know what my personal goal will be this week though, guess I should get on it.

Oh, on Sunday, me and some friends decided to play some football and run some drills (it was sorta strange), but we were pushing ourselves really hard on Saturday (guess a bunch of old guys just wanted to see if they "still had it" haha) but my knee is killing me now so I may have to push everything back a day and rest tonight. I'll see when I get home though but I've been gingerly walking around the office all day.

Have a great week 3 y'all!

Woohoo!!

This makes me remember, did you end up officially finding/picking a 5K race in the fall to shoot for? I remember you writing about looking (Hooray Irrigation Festival!), but I don't recall if you'd made an "official selection" yet.

You are well on your way, it's quite exciting :)

hey all! you guys are all doing terrific!! :)

I just want to say I feel like a millions dollars this week conpared to how i felt last week. I knew i didn't feel well but i didn't realize how unwell i felt until i felt better! I was running around for work yesterday ended up being pretty long hours so i didn't get to the gym, but my personal goal is to get 360 minutes of cardio in this week (this is also going to include whatever walks i go for) and i am SO VERY excited to achieve it. :) i'll be going for a walk at lunchtime and then after work i'll prolly be at the gym for a few hours (since i want to get cardio and full body weights in).

YAY go Red team!

Just checking in to let you know I am around. Having a very emotionally rough and stressful week but food is still beachy... I'm actually having more trouble eating at all then eating bad things right now. Exercise has been lacking but I will do my very best to get it in by Sunday night.

One of my cat's is very ill and I am not sure he is going to make it. So it has been a bad week for me... after 4 days of vet visits last week I had hoped that we'd see some vast improvements but on Monday we found out he likely has renal failure (kidney failure). If things progress as they have been so far, we will probably end up putting him down this weekend or early next week. But I am still hoping that he will start responding to the treatments I am doing with him at home and most of all that he will start eating on his own again. We went through this with a much older cat 6 years ago and it broke my heart to watch her decline and then the ultimate decision to stop prolonging the inevitable... I had hoped to not ever have to go through that again!

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. One of my daughter's cats had renal failure when he was about a year old and survived. He did have recurring urinary tract infections over the years until he finally had some kind of surgery to correct the cause of the problems. I'm sorry I don' know any more of the details. Anyway, she still has the cat, but he has been very expensive for a free cat!

As a cat lover and owner of two I feel so bad for you! I love my kitties so much and am so thankful that neither has had any serious medical problems so far. You have a tough decision to make but when you know that youve done all you can do and it was be more painful to keep going its best to let go.

((((((((HUGS))))))))

Dragonrose, I am so sorry to hear about your cat. :( I hope things turn around. *hugs*

Backhoegirl & maltby_gardner - thanks for the great "cold beans" suggestions in my journal! Honestly I'm thinking I just haven't really given them a chance... I think it's because I immediately associate all sorts of "salad" things (pasta salad, bean salad etc. not green salads) which being drenched in mayonnaise, which I despise. So early in my life I got in the habit of always avoiding any sort of "salad" concoction at potlucks and things... even though many of them AREN'T coated with mayo, it was just easier to avoid them altogether, I suppose. So now I just "think" that I hate them all, even though there's a good chance I might like it. :) So I think I will give it a shot and try out a bean salad sort of thing. The vinaigrette marinade idea sounds tasty and simple... and maltby, please do post your bean salad recipes!
