I just started Phase 1 and my stomach has been doing weird things. Second day was upset, and has been grumbly the rest of the week. Is this normal?

mostly eating chicken, lettuce, cucumbers, cottage cheese, trying very hard to eat only what is on the lists. I didn't know if maybe it was because you cut all those carbs and sugar out, maybe my body was retaliating :D

Not so much. Cottage cheese is the closest thing right now. I did have someone just tell me that it happens because your body has to get used to the no sugar, no carb and its working its way out of your system. I didn't have any idea that it would happen, you know, only the cravings for all that's gone. So I guess it is my body rebelling  Will certain foods help?

Cottage cheese (as are all cheeses) is a protein for the purposes of SB, not a dairy product. There are lots of good carbs available to you even in P1. Lots of vegetables, beans and dairy all help give you the carbs your body and brain need at first even without the whole grains and fruits added back in P2.

Be sure to review the menu planning guidelines in this thread to ensure that you are combining the foods in appropriate ways and are eating enough to allow you to lose weight in a healthy fashion. http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24136

I do think some stomach grumblyness is fairly normal as you are likely eating a lot more fiber and fresh foods that your body may not be used to getting on a regular basis. It adjusts pretty quickly though!

Ih ave had issues since I started on the 30th. its not solid when I poop, have gas issues. I think that I may have picked up a bug, so I am not sure if its that or symptoms to me changing my diet so much

I started out the same way. Its been over a month since I've been on the SBD and it does even out eventually. Embarrassing to admit  but the gas is still there, though not usually so bad. I've noticed that sometimes it depends on what you've eaten that day. As someone else has said, its your body adjusting to the change in diet and also all the veggies that you are eating, they make you gas-y. Plus, and this is just my opinion, without all the grains, your stool is not as solid, must have to do with all the fiber. I think its all adjustment and should get better.

do you think thaking something like beano before meals will help since I am eating SO much veggies and getting the really bad gas?

I think it would. I've heard from others that it helps alot. I also got some GasX, the strips that dissolve in your mouth. Every once in awhile, I've got really bad gas - of course while I'm at work! - and the gasx has helped alot.

thanks. I might try the beano since gasX sometimes causes me more issues than I had at the start

eating SF candies or things with sugar alcohols don't help this problem at all ... if you're eating those as sweet treats, try cutting them out of your diet and see if that helps.

That is a very important tip - the last time I tried SB I found a bag of diabetic sugar free toffee, and I ate it all - and spent about the next 12 hours regretting it. Disaster! This time I've banned junk of all times, and am avoiding sweetners other than in tiny quantities.
