I am allergic to all dairy products and have completely eliminated them from my diet. There is absolutely no reason to feel compelled to eat dairy products.
There are some studies that show that eating dairy products aids in weight loss. This is true, but the reason why is that the calcuim circulating in your system signals your body that there is plenty of food available; it doesn't need to store fat. Conversely, a lack of calcium signals a food shortage, causing your body to store fat. The calcium you would otherwise get by consuming dairy products is easily replaced by a calcium supplement. Mine includes magnesium and zinc. I also take a multi-vitamin twice a day, which provides all the vitamin D I need.
My daughter was recently telling me that she had learned in biology that, worldwide, it is more common than not to be lactose intolerant. The majority of people who are not lactose intolerant are of northern European descent; easy to see why a gene for lactose intolerance would have been selected for in a cold climate.
It would be much easier to be able to grab a cheese stick or a yogurt for a snack, but not consuming dairy products will teach you to be more creative! In P1, I used nuts and raw veggies as snacks. Now, in P2, my favorite snack is an apple with peanut butter.
Good luck! |

first let me say I do not work for the website i'm going to tell you about. I am just a regular consumer who bought it and it worked. I have been lactose intolerant and i mean horribly so for 15 or more years. In July I ate some cheese and got IBS symptoms that were so bad, I decided to do more research on solving my lactose problem.
I found lactagen which you can order at their site lactagen dot com. It's seemed a little pricey at first, but they offer a 100% money back guarantee for 6 mos after you buy it, so I said why not? Also if something would cure me, I would pay a lot more than they were asking.
Believe me when I say I was 100% skeptical that this would work. So I followed their program for 38 days to the letter and you know what I can consume dairy again. Now it's not perfect because if I overdo it then I get some gas, but now I can consume all dairy again. They said that will go away given time. Anyway despite that little hiccup, I am so thrilled!!
I missed yogurt, cottage cheese and milk so very much. I hated the soy yogurts and missed the occasional lattes. So I am telling you all about this not to make that website anymore $ but to help you out there. It's such a joy to be able to have it again & enjoy the benefits of getting natural calcium (I could never tolerate the calcium in pill forms), that I want everyone to feel like this. |
