Anyone had this injury? Back of the knee...

I've always been active with working out, even before SB, but I have stepped up my workouts from 2-3 days a week now to 5.

I normally do the treadmill and weights 2x a week, have 1 boot camp class (kickboxing, bike, step, body bars, jump rope and punching bags with running around the gym inbetween intervals), 1 body sculpting class, and a walk/ jog of 2.8 miles with the kids pushing a jogging stroller.

So, in my boot camp class on Monday we did numerous sprints on the bikes - sitting, standing, sitting standing and on Tues, the treadmills were full, so I did the elliptical instead. Got up this morning and right at the bend of my knee (back of my leg behind the knee) it feels like something is popping everytime I walk. Like the tendon is rubbing on something back there.

Anyone ever had this? Just wondering what it is and trying to figure out which of my activities caused it. Anyone have any ideas?

Sprinting on a trainer or spin bike is hard on your knees. You need to be particularly careful not to decelerate suddenly. I don't really know why, but I've been told that several times by cycling coaches and strength/conditioning folks. Additionally, pain behind the knee is generally caused by a saddle that's too high or too far forward.

If the problem was caused by the elliptical, I can't help you. I don't go near those things.

The instructor just went crazy with the bikes. We normally don't do that. Next time I'll just sit instead all the up and down. I'm sure that's what did it. And I think the elliptical just made it worse.

I'm much better today, so it looks like a pull over over extension or something that seems to be resolving.

Thanks for the reply!

I had that pain recently - mostly when I extended my leg, a pretty localized "twinge" beind my right knee. I didn't get it from cycling - likely running. It went away after a few days. I hope yours is better soon!
