Well he's sure making the commission isn't he???? I like asics and you can find some Nikes in the older models for cheap. Just try on some shoes see what firs good then buy them on ebay. Or go to an outlet store. |

I found that I needed to go to a running shoe store to get the right type of shoe. Age, weight and stride have alot to do with it. As I got older I had heel pain exacerbated by being over weight. I was stretching my arch downward, not landing on my heel too hard. So, I needed a shoe that provided support. A heel striker might need a shoe where the main feature provided is cushioning. A shoe designed for extra cushioning would have really aggravated my heel pain.
I've lost 25lbs since October on this WOE, and heel pain is gone. I still run in a support shoe - Brooks Adrenaline, and I alternate buying pairs at Academy and the specialty store. If jogging alot, it is good to replace your shoes about every 6 months as they can lose their springiness. |

Personally, I love new Balance. I appreciate the different widths. I go to the outlet in Brighton near Boston and can get my shoes from $25-70 each.
I talked to a woman in my water aerobics class tonight who said her doctor for plantar faciitis (a foot condition) recommended Brooks -- I think she said the limited edition model, in case that makes sense to anyone. |

For me it's all about Adidas Supernova (the stability ones - I overpronate). They actually make me want to run!
I agree with everyone else. It's definitely possible to find decent shoes for under $100, though I might be suspicious of shoes under $60. It's worth it to try them on at a running shoe store and have your stride and all that fun stuff analyzed, though, at least at first. In the end, an extra $25 on finding the right pair could save you lots of money in ruined joints and strained muscles. |

| I love my Brooks Adrenaline as well. They do wonders to correct my form (I over-pronate) and have a tinier heel width. I have duck feet--the toes are wide and the heel is smaller--and this brand keeps the shoe on my foot in a much better fashion than even saucony did! I find I can run longer without feeling any stress on my joints. I also bought them at a running store with the help of a salesman and paid $80, which I find totally reasonable for the amount of help and comfort these shoes have provided. They've been through quite a few miles of trail running and are holding on. |
