| Has anyone stopped cold turkey? I've been on 40 mg a day for about 2 years now, and decided to stop cold turkey last Friday. I've been experiencing major side effects, but have decided that I'm strong enough to do this myself (without my doctor's help). Just out of curiousity, does anyone know how long side effects last? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!! |

It doesn't seem like a good idea to me to stop taking a medication without consulting with your doctor. I found this:
http://www.drugs.com/paxil.html
If you Google Paxil, you should be able to find a lot of useful information, but truly, I think it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor. |

| Paxil is one of those drugs that you are suppose to gradually reduce in dosage over a period of time when you are trying to come off of it....and this process is suppose to be supervised by a doctor. It is for your own safety to have a doctor supervise this process. I suggest you contact your doctor immediately. |

My doctor is starting to phase me off of Paxil. I was on 25 MG. The first step is to cut the tablets in half. He then wants to see me again in 2 months to see how I'm doing on that lower dose. At that point, I expect him to possibly completely take me off or cut it down even more(every other day possibly).
He said you don't want to do 'cold turkey' as it may lead to a little bit of depression.
Either way, I would check with your doctor.
Hope that helps. |
