this is probably going to sound like i'm being paid by bare escentuals to post this, but i have to do a little testimonial action because i LOVE this stuff ...
a coworker recently gave me her bare minerals starter kit because she said her skin was too dry for it ... i was a bit skeptical about using all loose powder makeup instead of foundation - i never get breakouts, but my skin tone is a little bit uneven and on the combination/slightly oily by afternoon side.
while wearing foundation made my face feel really greasy [and kind of melted by 4pm], bare minerals are way different! my face feels soft and clean after hours of wearing. no rubbing off on white tshirts as i take them off, and i've slept in it from time to time and NO residue on my all-white bedding.
i also use a clinique toner after washing my face, and previously i'd go through two cotton balls at night that were just covered in foundation ... after this switch, they are virtually SPOTLESS. it was amazing how much makeup was in my pores, and how little there is now.
the look is also fabulous - much more even, natural, and airbrushed-looking than with my old regimen. i just had to share because i've been so incredibly pleased with this product line. |

| That's funny- my MIL gave me hers - not sure why but I didn't really start using it. She gave me the two little jars of powder and the brush. So you just wash your face, moisturize and put that on instead of foundation or powder? Even if you have an oily t-zone? |

YES, that's what's so wild about it! [to me, anyway] it works great!
you should try it ... if you can catch one of the stupid infomercials [leslie blodgett or whatever her name is who invented it looks like a troll who thinks she's attractive, it's pretty funny] that'll tell you how to use it unless your MIL gave you the DVD ... you need an appropriate shade of the base powder, the warmth bronzing powder, and mineral veil for the whole look to come together. the regular powder doesn't do much for you by itself, but when you add the warmth it makes a huge difference [not sure how other bronzers work with that - i had one i really loved that benefit makes and i don't care for it as much now] and the mineral veil helps to give you a nice airbrushed look, i guess.
seriously, i can't speak highly enough about this stuff and i'm not a big advocate of gimmicky products ... i guess it's doing well though; they're opening a bare escentuals store at one of the malls here. |

I saw a store at the mall near me- I'll definitely stop by and check it out. Now that summer is coming I definitely need something that won't melt or let me look all shiny by mid afternoon-
Thanks, A-rod! |

I am a Clinique foundation to Bare Minerals convert. I can't believe how it feels, how it stays and how good it looks.
I even have LIGHT, LIGHT skin, so I thought it may look weird (I am so light even most "fairs" are too dark), but there have been no problems. |

Ok....saw this post and had to pop in.....mineral makeup is great! One thing for you to note....there are other brands too! I use Jane Iredale....she was the Pioneer of mineral makeup...you can find her product at dermatologist/plastic surgeons, skin care clinics, spas.
I think the most important thing is that you find one where you can try the color or have an expert color match you....and also show you how to properly apply it. Ordering from an infomercial it is difficult to get the right color! Also....one other thing to note is that most people who think they don't like mineral makeup are not applying correctly. Because it is minerals and doesn't have all of the fillers that most other makeups have, you need to apply sparingly! It's great for the SPF too.
If you are wondering....I am a licensed esthetician and used to sell mineral makeup! By the way....it is so healing.....we used to apply it after waxing, microdermabrasion, etc.....it takes away the redness very quickly....in fact many plastic surgeons recommend Jane Iredale after laser surgery, etc due to it's healing qualities!
www.janeiredale.com check it out....and no, I don't sell it anymore, just a big fan.

| Thanks for the suggestion A-Rod. I was looking for another foundation, the one I use is heavy and I always end up with that greasy look in the afternoon. Yuk! It's a little bit pricey but probably worth it! |

the starter kit costs $60 but you get a ton of stuff:
- two shades of base powder [light/med/dark/etc.]
- warmth powder
- mineral veil
- two big applicator brushes
- small brush for touch up [i use this on eyes cause i don't have blemishes]
- some rev-up spray i've never used
- instructional DVD
i think i got the kit 4 months ago and i've only used one of the base powder shades and still have so much of it left. it lasts a LONG time. you barely need any of it!
they sell it online or if you have a sephora near you, they have a whole big display there and i'm sure you can test it or have them demo it on you.
i am SO excited to have this coming into summer. no more greasy foundation! |

There have been Bare Minerals store elsewhere for a while, but none here yet. I love the stuff, too. I've been using it for maybe 5 years or more and it's better than anything.
For some reason, I'm thinking that you live in the Portland, OR area. That's where I am. If you're here, too, which mall is it? |
