I love spinning. It's absolutely my favorite exercise. Buuuuuuut my building has a gym downstairs which only has recumbent bikes ( don't like them) and I'm too cheap to go to a real gym. Is there any way to do a spinning-type workout on a recumbent? Obviously you can't stand up on those.
Any way to make it less boring and more spin-like?

Do own your own outdoor bicycle? if so getting a trainer to put it on during bad weather is a great alternative - there are some great kick butt dvd's out there for use with bikes on trainers. If you have a dvd player in your workout room you could try some down there. I figure a recumbant is better than laying on the couch thinking about signing up for a spinning class. the only thing with a recumbant is not being able to change the tension but you can still do some heavy duty spinning at different paces. I have a Chris carmichael (Lance armstrongs coach) time trial dvd. It doesn't change tension much but does adjust the cadence. the wierd music is the cadence rythym. I am dripping after an hour of doing it.

Spinerval series is also a good series with workouts for all different levels
