Time of the month and hunger?

You certainly learn a lot about your body and your eating habits on this diet! Having just gone thru my 2nd TOM on the Beach, I think I have discovered that the day before and day of my period I am starving!!!!! Nothing really seems to satisfy my hunger. Does anyone else experience this? And if so does anyone have any solutions?

I get very hungry about 3 days before my TOM, and during the entire week of it. How ever, I only seem to want carbs, so I eat veggies. Cruncy veggies with salad dressing as a constant snack, are like eating chips to me. I eat nuts to. Most of the time more than allowed, but it keeps me from eating things that I shouldn't (like chips, candy, pretzels, etc).

This happens to me, too. This is the most reliable indication that my period is about to start. I usually just eat more, maybe 25% more than usual, and drink more caffeine-free tea. It's only one or maybe two days for me.

If someone has some ideas though I would love to hear them.

TOM is over for me now and my appetite is returning to normal. I lasts the entire time for me.

I definatly am more hungry during TOM. Must be hormonal or something but i'm craving sweets and i'm hungry all the time! TOM is my weakness, I can reach out for anything, good or bad!

Have you tried the SBD friendly cocoa? I've used it before when dieting and it pushes the CHOCOLATE button too.

1c skim milk-roughly
1 c boiling hot water-roughly
1 tablespoon cocoa powder (the unsweetened stuff you bake with)
1 or 2 packets sweetener
__
mix the cold milk with powders, it'll be lumpy and sticky. Slowly add boiling water and keep stirring to mix.

My TOM month is coming too, and I'm hoping I don't get the usual cravings and inability to push the I'M FULL button. Good luck, if you/me/us can make it thru without cheating, man, what a wonderful thing!

Tell me about it! I eat everything that's in site during the TOM!

You ladies have to check out this website I found-- daretowearwhite.com. It is GREAT. Funny and it gives a hilarious spin on our period.

I have been nothing but hungry for the past few days. I want to eat constantly. I have been eating WAY too many nuts then allowed but it is better then chips or candy so...I believe my TOM is less then a week away. This will be my first since starting SB so I am hoping that is why I have been eating like a hog.

I am the same way. I came to the Health and Medical Issues thread looking for this topic even. I'm starting Phase 1 tomorrow and I hope my TOM doesn't throw it all off for me. I don't know how true this is but I have heard that your metabolism speeds up during your time and maybe that is why we get so hungry?

I think I read somewhere that many women need anywhere from 300-500 calories more during their TOM - now, whether that is PER DAY, or for the entire 3-7 days (however long it lasts for you!), I'm not sure...but yes, I read a snippet somewhere stating that caloric needs to go up somewhat. Geez, I should bookmark these things!
