calories???

i am working on the arc trainer at the gym. it's a nice smooth machine I set it at weight loss level 5 and I tell it i weigh 240 pounds. then i get on and i gotta make it move. the more i make it move the more calories i burn.

30 minutes says its' around 250-300 calories (depending on weight loss level and how fast i can go) 45 minutes at level 5 gets me around 500-525 calories burned (which i dont' believe for a minute)

but add a5 more minutes for one hour on the thing and it says i burn over 700 calories.

does that make sense?

I think you're expecting higher precision than what exercise equipment has.

actually i think it's way too high... i can't imagine that one hour of moderate work.. well it feels moderate to me... burns much more than say 300 calories....

However......(exercise equipment precision aside....)
More than likely you are burning more calories the last 15 minutes than the first 15.... because your muscles are warmed up and you are moving much faster...

And either way............... you are doing awesome!

(an hour on any machine ain't for wimps!)

the funny thing is on this one.. i can easily do an hour... but not on a bike or an eliptical... and walking bores me.. treadmills are too hard on my ankle...

and i am moving but it feels slower... who knows...

i guess i gotta suck it up and do that extra 15 on the cardio only days (right now that's all i have is cardio anyway)
